Enjoyed falling down the rabbit hole at NY botanical garden - I visited in August to check out the Alice in Wonderland themed exhibit. It’s too bad that most of the flowers bloom in spring as they would’ve complimented the displays. I enjoyed taking the tram at times since it was very hot during my visit. I took the train from Grand Central which lands you at the other entrance, but way better than walking through the neighbourhoods after getting off the subway for any solo female travellers.

A Learning Experience - If you are into gardening or a lover of nature this should be a must visit for you. In addition to flowers, streams, fountains and trees there are classes. The classes include cooking, earth worm growing, an Edible Academy and more. I attended a vegan cooking class and at the Edible Academy I learned how to make Dukkah. Dukkah is a mixture of herbs and seeds that is sometimes used to add flavor to dips, or you can use it as you see fit. After the class I was given the ingredients and the recipe. The Arboretum, was zen, beautiful and a must see.

The rose garden in early June was stunning - I loved our visit here. We somehow missed the Conservatory so I would like to go back. The Rockefeller Rose Garden was in full bloom and was out of this world. Some of the peonies were also still blooming - I can only imagine how amazing that would have been had the majority been in bloom. The gift shop alone is worth a stop! I look forward to returning one day.

April showers bring May flowers - I enjoyed walking around here on a beautiful spring day. It is easy to get to via the Metro North from Grand Central to the Botanical Garden stop. Twenty minute ride and the station is right at the entrance. The Alice in Wonderland exhibit was on when I was there. The tram ride is included and is informative. Don’t miss the rose garden and the conservatory.

Fantastic place in the middle of NYC - A beautiful place to see flora and fauna together. Amazing trees, beautiful places to relax at, a cafe to eat , well tended flowerbeds and wildflower arrangements. Something for everybody rain or shine.

Turned an anti-botanist into a plant enthusiast! - I didn't think I'd be that bothered about botanical gardens as I'm not majorly into plants, but I went to the orchid show and was blown away by how amazing everything looked. It was so peaceful in the gardens too. I ended up buying a yearly pass, but my pass didn't come in time to one of the free tickets to take my friend to the gardens, so I reached out to membership support and a great guy called Matthew sent me tickets until mine pass arrives, he was so nice. If you don't care about plants, go, you'll still love it. If you do care about plants, you'll be in heaven.

Great garden facilities - Large beautiful garden with flowers, trees, bird life, forest, water and everything that goes with it. You can spend several hours here. We took the train from Grand Central to the "Botanical garden", which was very convenient. The train station is close to one of the entrances (not the main entrance).

SAVE YOUR MONEY-NEVER AGAIN!!! - The NERVE of Bronx Botanical Gardens!! My daughter took me there yesterday, July 28, as an early birthday gift. I was eager to see the Alice in Wonderland Exhibit. First, it was wildly expensive--admission, $35.00 Adults, $31.00 for seniors. Then, let's not even talk about the restaurant there--$26.00 for a crispy chicken sandwich? Are you kidding me?? Now, here's the worst part---NOTHING was in bloom outdoors. NOTHING at ALL. Yet my other sister went to Old Westbury Gardens on the same day and she said, well, that's funny, Old Westbury Gardens, the grounds were ALL in blooms with loads of flowers. So, there was literally NOTHING to see on the grounds of Bronx Botanical Gardens. Save your money and go to Old Westbury Gardens instead. I wish we would have gone there. VERY, VERY, VERY FEW Alice in Wonderland Exhibits. The highlight was a giant Rabbit near the entrance it was very cute. A huge chess set on the grounds, 2 giant mushrooms, a couple of things for kids, that was about it. AGAIN--SAVE YOU MONEY---Unless you just want to go into the Conservatory, that's were the rainforest plants are and the desert plants. Otherwise NOTHING TO SEE HERE!!
