- Thanlyin - Our company’s Tour Guide will collect you from your hotel. Our journey begins with a 45-minute drive across the Bago River from Yangon to Thanlyin (Syriam), once a significant trading hub in the 17th Century under the guidance of the Portuguese explorer De Brito. Presently, Thanlyin is recognized for its extensive Deep Sea Port Projects at Thilawa. We’ll explore the key attractions of Thanlyin, including the remnants of ancient Portuguese Churches at the town’s heart, and the remains of a Catholic church established by an Italian Barnabite missionary. We’ll also visit the Kyaik-Khauk Pagoda, which sits atop a hill in the town, featuring a golden stupa reminiscent of the Shwedagon and boasting a history that spans over two millennia. In front of the pagoda lie the graves of Myanmar’s literary figures Natshinnaung and Padethayaza, who penned tales of the common folk during the Ava period and were later captured by the Mon. Our tour continues to the Kyauk-Tan Pagoda, a temple situated on a small island along a tributary of the Yangon River. En route, we’ll pause at Bada-Gyi village to admire a colossal, century-old Seated Buddha Image standing 41 feet tall.\n\nSavor lunch at a local eatery.\n\nIn the late afternoon, we’ll return to Yangon and make a stop at Bogyoke Aung San Market (also known as Scott Market, which is closed on Mondays).\n\nWe’ll conclude our tour with a return trip to your hotel.
