Additional Information

3 Hour Paddle

We begin our 3 hour paddle of the West Thumb Geyser basin at 8:30 AM. We will traverse 3 miles of wilderness with the opportunity to view active geyser features along the way. Paddling along the shoreline allows for the best wildlife viewing opportunities. Elk are often spotted in Grant Village and sometimes other mammals such as bears and wolves frequent the lake area. A variety of bird species are spotted daily and the water is clear enough to see the native Cutthroat Trout as big as your arm if you’re lucky enough. ;) The fish can get quite large in Yellowstone Lake.

Location
Grant Marina Road
Shortly after turning onto Grant Village Rd, look for the Ranger Station, 1/4 mile further you'll see a small Boat Ramp sign on the Right side of the road indicating Grant Marina Rd. Turn Right here, the Yellowstone General Store will now be on your Left. Proceed 1/4 Mile down to the beach.

Calm in Yellowstone - We did this tour as our first activity in Yellowstone. If you like some peace and quiet among one of the busiest parks, then this is the tour for you! The time of day was perfect to be out on the water. And going in September was pretty cool because we ended up being the only ones on the tour! Our guide was knowledgable about the lake and geothermic features, plus shared recommendations and stories about Yellowstone . It was informative and serene. It was a great start to the day and left us plenty of time to explore other nearby areas like the geyser basin.

First time Kayakers - We had so much fun on our kayak trip! Only 2 (out of 7 of us) had ever kayaked before. The guides were so helpful, patient, entertaining and informative. I am sure you would enjoy the experience!

It was wonderful! - We really enjoyed ourselves. We are 62 and 65. We were a little slower than the rest so one of the guides always stayed back with us. All of the guides were warm and friendly. Such a great experience.

Gorgeous views - Beautiful but a little windy on the way back. I was expecting 3 single kayaks but was given a double and a single. As a bonus, we saw a back country geyser erupt on our trip.

Quality tour with an awesome guide! Do not miss a quality tour at a friendly place. - Great tour. Knowledgeable guide. Loved every minute of the paddle. The tandem kayak was perfect for my wife and I. Dylan, our guide insured we were ready for the trip and are sure that we knew how to handle the kayak. He was very knowledgeable about Yellowstone animals and geology. We plan to do this tour again.

Amazing Experience! - My husband and I did a morning kayak tour with Maddie and Dylan at Prismatic Tours during our trip to Yellowstone this past week. It was such a wonderful experience being on Yellowstone Lake and getting to see the Geysers from the water. Maddie and Dylan are very personable, fun, and shared so much history with us that we would not have gotten anywhere else. I would highly recommend this company and tour!

Loved it - My boyfriend and I loved our early morning kayak tour! Dylan was very friendly and knowledgeable. The morning that we toured was rainy but Dylan came prepared with waterproof clothing. We would definitely do this tour or other tours provided through this company again.

Experience of a lifetime - We were booked for the twilight kayak tour however it had to be postponed due to rough water in the lake. The company and Dylan rescheduled us for the following morning. The water was much calmer and we were able to start kayaking in picture perfect weather. It did get a little rainy with hail halfway through but it was not dangerous at all. What a great view of Yellowstone lake, West Thumb geysers and the surrounding mountains! We'll never forget this tour. Special thanks to Dylan, his knowledge and expertise.

Very friendly, knowledgeable, great food - Had a kayak tour this summer with Madison, she was super knowledgeable and really great with the kids on tour. I was able to get in last minute because of her flexibility and the charcuterie board was the best I’ve ever had! Highly recommend as a unique way to see the park and to learn about the Geological features and wildlife of the park.

Awesome Way to View a small piece of Yellowstone - Tiffany was a wonderful tour guide with a wealth of knowledge. The morning kayak trip was tremendous. The lake was peaceful and calm. We were the only ones on the lake as it was the last trip of the season. I highly recommend this trip.
