Terezin consists of two main areas: the Small Fortress (a former Gestapo prison) and the Main Fortress (a former Jewish Ghetto). A local tour guide will lead the tour of the Small Fortress, while the driver-guide will provide a tour of the Main Fortress. Tickets can be purchased on-site with a card, which is more economical.
The knowledgeable driver-guide will be available to answer questions and share stories of Terezin survivors.
After the tour, the driver-guide will return guests to Prague and drop them off at their preferred location.
- Mala Pevnost (Small Fortress) - The Small Fortress was used as a prison by the Prague Gestapo for opponents of the Nazi regime from 1940 to 1945. During the tour, visitors will see guard offices, prison cells, showers, a sick room, a hospital, and an execution site. Part of the tour includes a 500-meter-long corridor showcasing former fortifications (the tunnel can be skipped if desired). A local tour guide typically conducts the Small Fortress tour.
Tickets for the Small Fortress can be purchased on-site with a card, which is more economical.
- Hlavni Pevnost (Main Fortress) - The experienced driver-guide will provide a tour of the Main Fortress, the former Jewish Ghetto.
One of the main attractions is the Ghetto Museum, dedicated to the history of the Theresienstadt Ghetto, a Nazi-established Jewish ghetto and transit camp during World War II. The museum features two permanent exhibitions: the Children’s Memorial Hall, which honors the ghetto’s children with their names, poems, and drawings displayed on the walls, and Terezín in the Final Solution, an exhibition on the first floor detailing the persecution of Jews in the Protectorate, the establishment and life in the ghetto, and the transports to labor and extermination camps.
Tickets for the Museum can be purchased on-site with a card, which is more economical.
