Meerkat experience fantastic - We booked a meerkat experience for 2 people through virgin experience days at a fantastic price which gave us a 1 hour meerkat experience and full days entry to the zoo. We went as a couple and did not take the children but will definitely return with them as it's got so much for them. Multiple play areas, lots of animals to see and feed. The dinosaur land is absolutely fantastic and so much effort and work has been put into it to make it seem so realistic. We saw all the animals, not like some zoos where they don't come out all day they were all out for us to see how beautiful they are especially the big cats. It's a must visit place for cat lovers.
Our meerkat experience was the best! Adam and Jodie were lovely and very knowledgeable it was so interesting to learn all about the life of a meerkat. Feeding them and having them climb all over us was brilliant. We could take as many photos as we wanted too. Not only did we go into one enclosure but 3 to see all of the meerkats that they have at the zoo. Especially nice as we were the only ones booked in so we did the experience on our own. We then went to the action barn for the reptile talk and again as we were the only ones there we were able to stroke and even hold Dave the snake. Again very interesting to hear about how they live, feed etc. Saw plenty of staff cleaning, changing bedding and feeding the animals which was nice to see that they are passionate in providing the best environment for them. If you're visiting this time of year or going after bad rain wellies or old footwear and clothes are a must as we got very dirty but was definitely worth it. The value for money for the brilliant day we had was outstanding.

Badger Watching Experience - We went to Hoo Zoo for our badger watching experience as a family of 4 with 2 grown up kids. We had an amazing evening with Emma seeing about 7 badgers in the wild. Emma is so knowledgeable and obviously loves her job, the zoo and of course the badgers. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone!
The badger experience includes free entry to the zoo and we loved seeing the unusual animals such as caracal, snow leopards, serval and baby wallabies. Overall a great day out.

Amazing day out! - Excellent day out! Lots of animals to see up close, plenty of benches, and not too busy at all. Much preferred this zoo to the bigger zoos such as Chester zoo. And would definitely recommend the carnivore experience.
We will be coming back!!

Book in advance to avoid disappointment!!! - We had the grandkids for the weekend and with a decent weather forecast decided to give this place a go and what a great decision,we all had a great time , animals were great, the dinosaurs were amazing and the 6 year old was naming them without error, well, there is a dispute on the Ankylosaurus as he said the model was incorrect. All in all, excellent value but only negative was that we should have worn wellies due to the mud and not trainers.

Hoo Zoo - A great day out! - Really enjoyed Hoo Zoo and Dinosaur World. The weather was a little drizzly, so it was a shame some of the animals couldn't come out, but it still was a great visit. Really enjoyed the variety of animals that were there, like the wolves and the otters, and the gift shop was lovely, with quite reasonable prices on the animal merchandise. Staff were friendly and inviting, shout out to the lady with the blue dreadlocks in the t-rex tea room, who was smiley and approachable. There was animal feed available to feed some of the animals, which was a nice addition to the experience. Overall, a lovely day out and very much recommended to families with young children, as there's lots of activities to enjoy.

Fun muddy day out (Feb 25) - A fun day out with all the family, good for little ones and older kids. It was muddy in places so take your wellies, but to be expected in February. Little soft indoor play area too. Good value for money.

A good day out for all ages - We went as an extended family group with the youngest child being 16 months old. The Zoo is very clean but the paths around the enclosures were not the best, with some paths being so muddy it was very slippery so make sure you wear suitable foot wear. The talks were very informative and getting up close with the lemurs was a highlight for my elder grandchildren.
The drinks were very expensive at £2.50 a pop but the staff were so friendly and didn’t rush my grandson when he couldn’t decide what he wanted.
The elder grandchildren enjoyed the playground area at the end of the day. You can easily spend a day here.
A super day out with lots to see and do.

How we found it x - I really enjoyed our day, it’s the perfect size ! I decided to take the children here on my own while pregnant and it was very manageable. it’s very easy to miss parts as the paths can go multiple ways! My boys found this even more exciting as it made it like a maze for them ☺️, so make sure you walk round twice as we did walk round twice and we still somehow missed the reptile house! Even with spending 4 hours there. we will return again to find it. The interactive map is really good, but I’d zapped my phone battery using the satnav and was worried I’d run out of charge getting home ( my fault, definitely not the zoos ).
I also enjoyed the musical aspects as we walked down to the emus. The Dino walk was really good too. I loved seeing the baby joeys on the wallaby walk ! That was my favourite. The lemur walk was also amazing, anything with peacocks and squirrels is a winner with me, there were also two great staff within the walk at different points who approached us with lemur facts which I enjoyed. I loved that the lemurs had natural trees and not just posts etc like most zoos have in their lemur walks. I do advise going back round to the enclosures near the entrance later in the day though, as When we first arrived There was a lot of condensation on the windows to view the animal, it was no bother as no-one can control the climate/weather so I definitely recommend going back to that bit a little later in the day as most had fully cleared within a couple hours. We enjoyed our day and have purchased annual passes. Thankyou xx
