Highlights
  • Memorial History of Georgia - The tour begins with a visit to the Hidden Gem of Tbilisi, known as the Chronicles of Georgia. This stone monument, perched atop a grand staircase, narrates the fascinating history of Georgia from ancient times.
  • Jvari Church - Depart Tbilisi and head to the ancient capital of Mtskheta. Known as Georgia’s religious center, you’ll explore the UNESCO World Heritage site – the 6th-century Jvari Monastery, which offers one of the most breathtaking views, including the confluence of two rivers.
  • Mtskheta - Mtskheta is the birthplace and one of the most vibrant centers of Christianity in Georgia, home to the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the country’s most significant religious building. The town is small and can be explored in about an hour. As you stroll through its cobblestone streets, you’ll find small open-air shops selling wine, ceramics, sweets, and souvenirs.
  • Stalin Museum - This strikingly designed museum is dedicated to the life of Joseph Stalin, the Soviet Union leader born in Gori. Outside the museum building, you can see the Dzhugashvili family’s wood-and-mud-brick house where Stalin spent the first four years of his life.
  • Uplistsiche Cave Town - Uplistsikhe was once the center of a large region, heavily involved in international trade and economic activities. Originally, it is believed to have had over 770 caves, but only 150 remain today. Key sites to visit include the amphitheater, Queen Tamar’s hall, the prisons, the wine presses, the pharmacy, and the three-nave basilica.

Think Georgia ! Think Giga ! - Giga was the embodiment of Georgian hospitality and expertise. From the moment we met, his passion for the history and culture of Mtskheta, Gori, and Uplistsikhe shone through, enriching every moment of our journey. His deep knowledge of each site, coupled with engaging storytelling, brought the ancient past to life before my eyes. He expertly guided me through the labyrinthine streets of Mtskheta, sharing captivating tales of kings and saints amidst the stunning architecture of Svetitskhoveli Cathedral. In Gori, he provided invaluable insights into the complex legacy of Joseph Stalin, navigating me through the nuances of Soviet history with sensitivity and depth. His ability to contextualize the past within the present added a layer of understanding that made my experience all the more meaningful. And at Uplistsikhe, he led me on a captivating exploration of the ancient cave dwellings, illuminating the ingenuity and resilience of Georgia’s ancestors. His enthusiasm was infectious, turning each discovery into a moment of wonder and awe. But beyond his knowledge and expertise, what truly set Giga apart was his warmth and hospitality. He went above and beyond to ensure my comfort and enjoyment, offering recommendations for local delicacies and hidden gems along the way. In short, Giga was not just a guide, but a true ambassador of Georgian culture and history. His passion, expertise, and hospitality made my journey through Mtskheta, Gori, and Uplistsikhe an unforgettable experience that I will treasure for years to come.
