Day 1 — Tbilisi → Omalo (Tusheti)

Day 1 — Tbilisi → Omalo (Tusheti)
Tusheti National Park - The journey begins early in Tbilisi at the Bicycle Monument, where the group departs in 4×4 vehicles heading towards the mountains. The route crosses the picturesque Gombori Pass (1620 m) and follows the Stori River valley to the renowned Abano Pass (2826 m)—the highest drivable mountain pass in the Caucasus.
In Omalo, the itinerary includes visits to the Tusheti Visitor Center, Keselo Castle Towers, and the delightful villages of Shenako and Diklo. Participants will hear fascinating stories about the region’s history, visit St. George’s Church, and enjoy breathtaking views towards Dagestan.
Day 2 — Omalo → Pitsris Chala (Horse Riding Begins)
Tusheti National Park - After a satisfying breakfast, the group saddles up to begin the migration ride towards Kakheti. The trail meanders through alpine meadows, ancient stone villages, and the rugged landscapes of Tusheti. Lunch is enjoyed in the natural surroundings near Khiso village.
Camping takes place at Pitsris Chala, at the base of the Abano Pass, with dinner shared under the stars.
Day 3 — Pitsris Chala → Abano Pass → Sviana (Kakheti)
Tusheti National Park - The day involves conquering the impressive Abano Pass on horseback, retracing the route from day one—this time at the pace of the migrating herd. A picnic is enjoyed at a scenic viewpoint before descending to the warmer Kakheti lowlands.
Camping is near the medieval Sviana Fortress.
Day 4 — Sviana → Shakriani Valley
Day 5 — Shakriani → Tsinandali Vineyards
Tsinandali - The route delves deeper into wine country, through rolling hills and historic villages. Kakhetian winemaking traditions here date back over 8,000 years. Riders travel between endless vineyards, pausing for lunch in the shade of walnut trees.
The camp is set among the vines near Tsinandali.
Day 6 — Tsinandali → Sakobo Valley
Day 7 — Sakobo → St. Elia Mountain
Dedoplistskaro - At sunrise, the herd is rounded up, having roamed freely overnight in the valley. The day’s ride features a mix of open plains and charming lowland villages. After a picnic lunch, camping is near St. Elia Mountain, where the horizon seems boundless.
Day 8 — St. Elia Mountain → Vashlovani National Park → Tbilisi
Vashlovani National Park - The final leg leads into the wild beauty of Vashlovani National Park—a landscape of golden grasslands and dramatic cliffs. Here, the horses will spend the winter months in warmer pastures.
A farewell dinner is shared, filled with stories and laughter, before returning to Tbilisi in the evening.
