AGADIR - TAROUDANTE - TIOUT (Route)

1. Agadir
A convenient pick-up and drop-off service is offered for all hotels in Agadir and Taghazout.

2. Taroudant
Situated in the Souss Plain, Taroudant is precisely 90 km from Agadir. Along the journey, there is a brief stop to observe goats climbing argan trees. The route takes travelers past vast orange groves. Taroudant, a Berber city, was once the capital of the Saadian dynasty before Marrakech. In Taroudant, visitors explore the Berber Souk to appreciate the craftsmanship of local artisans. The city is encircled by an impressive 8 km long wall. The visit concludes with a tour of Sultan Salam’s 16th-century palace, a refreshing retreat.

3. Tiout
For lunch, the journey continues to the village of Tiout, where a private stop at a local resident’s home is arranged. The meal includes tagine, Moroccan couscous, fresh fruit, and the national drink, “Nana,” fresh mint tea. After lunch, a leisurely walk or a ride on a donkey (Berber Taxi) is available to explore a palm grove that shelters a large date palm plantation. The visit proceeds to the Kasbah of Tiout, a filming location for the 1954 movie Ali Baba and the 40 Robbers (Director Fernandel). The return to Agadir takes a different route to showcase diverse landscapes.

The towns of Taroudant and Tiout lie east and south of Agadir under the High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, but are difficult to reach independently in a day. Explore the souk and ramparts of Taroudant before visiting Tiout for lunch in the kasbah (fortress) and an optional donkey ride (own expense).
