On the first day, after enjoying breakfast and receiving a briefing from the guide at Springlands Hotel, the operator will be transported to Lemosho Park Gate (2,100m), a journey of 1.5 hours. At Londorossi Gate, registration will be completed before embarking on a trek along picturesque forest trails to Mti Mkubwa Campsite (2,750m), a 3-hour hike. Upon arrival, the porters will set up the tents, and the chef will prepare lunch. After the meal, there will be time to relax until dinner. In the evening, the guide will provide a briefing about the next day’s trek.
MTI MKUBWA CAMP | SHIRA CAMP 1
Mount Kilimanjaro - Mti Mkubwa Camp to Shira Camp 2

The day begins with an early breakfast before setting out on the trek from Mti Mkubwa Camp. The trail leads through diverse landscapes, including moorlands and stunning views of Kibo Volcano. After approximately 5 hours of hiking, Shira Camp 1 is reached for a hot lunch prepared by the chef. After the meal, the trek continues to Shira Camp 2, a further 2–3 hours away. Shira Camp 2 is situated at a higher altitude, offering expansive views of the surrounding landscapes. Upon arrival, the porters will set up the tents, and there will be time to relax and acclimate before dinner. In the evening, the guide will brief on the following day’s trek.
SHIRA CAMP 1 | SHIRA CAMP 2

Hiking time: 3 -4 hours
On the third day, an early breakfast is followed by a brief hike from Shira 1 to Shira 2 camp, usually taking no more than 5-6 hours. The trek is relatively easy, allowing for the enjoyment of breathtaking views of Africa. Upon reaching the Shira 2 campsite, the dedicated porters will handle all arrangements, such as pitching tents, while the chef prepares lunch. After the meal, there is a chance to unwind and rest until dinnertime. In the evening, following dinner, the experienced guide will brief about the trekking plans for the next day.
SHIRA CAMP 2 | LAVA TOWER | BARRANCO CAMP
Mount Kilimanjaro - Altitude: 3,840 m – 3,960 m

Hiking time: 7–8 hours
The day starts with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel the trek. Today’s route includes a climb to the Lava Tower at 4,630m, passing through a semi-desert, rocky landscape. After a 5-hour hike, lunch is enjoyed before ascending the rocky scree path to Lava Tower. This demanding day might test endurance as the higher altitude is adjusted to. After lunch, a descent of 680m to the Barranco campsite follows, where the true benefit of acclimatization becomes clear. The 2-hour descent offers stunning photo opportunities of the Western Breach. The day ends with a memorable sunset and dinner at Barranco camp.
BARRANCO CAMP | KARANGA CAMP

The day begins early with a wake-up call and a nourishing breakfast to fuel the trek. The journey may involve ascending the famous Barranco Wall, a steep but rewarding section. After conquering the Wall, a descent into the scenic Karanga Valley follows, known for its lush vegetation and breathtaking landscapes. Upon reaching the Karanga campsite, the porters will set up tents while the chef prepares lunch. After the meal, an acclimatization hike towards Barafu Camp is embarked on, ascending 200 meters before returning to camp. In the evening, a hot meal prepared by the chef is enjoyed. Following dinner, the experienced guide will brief on the next day’s trek, discussing the route, challenges, and key details.
KARANGA CAMP | BARAFU CAMP

The day starts with an early wake-up call and a hearty breakfast to fuel the trek toward Barafu campsite. The trail features varied terrain, including rocky sections and gradual slopes, offering breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro’s high-altitude landscapes. As the ascent continues, focus on acclimatization to avoid altitude-related issues. Upon reaching Barafu, the porters will handle camp setup while the chef prepares lunch. After eating, rest until dinner. In the evening, the guide will brief on the upcoming summit attempt, covering the route, challenges, safety measures, and preparations. Rest well, as the summit ascent begins late in the evening.
BARAFU CAMP | SUMMIT | MWEKA CAMP
Mount Kilimanjaro - Altitude: 4,640 m – 5, 895 m – 3,090 m
Hiking distance: 17 km
Hiking & descending time: 15+ hours
Rising around 11:30 PM, the ascent begins after some tea and biscuits. Heading northwest, the climb through scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim commences. The 6-hour trek to Stella Point (5,685m) is often the most mentally and physically challenging part of the climb. After a brief rest at Stella Point, a magnificent sunrise is the reward, weather permitting. From there, it’s a 2-hour snow-covered ascent to Uhuru Peak. Time at the summit will depend on the weather, so lingering too long is not advisable due to the cold and fatigue. The descent to Barafu takes about 3 hours for a short rest before continuing to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight.
MWEKA CAMP | MWEKA PARK GATE | SPRINGLANDS HOTEL
Mount Kilimanjaro - Altitude: 3,090 m – 1,650 m
Hiking distance: 10 km
Descending time: 4-5 hours
After breakfast at Mweka Camp, the descent to Mweka Gate is followed by a drive back to Springlands Hotel, where a hot lunch and refreshing shower await. At the end of the trip, tipping the team is encouraged and appreciated; special envelopes for this purpose are available at the hotel. If an extension of the adventure with a safari is desired, a meeting with the safari coordinator at the hotel can be arranged. After some rest, the coordinator will provide a briefing on the various safari options available. Booking a safari is highly recommended to experience Tanzania’s stunning wildlife and natural beauty, making the journey truly unforgettable.
