Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park - Guests will be collected from Dar es Salaam Airport or ferry and embark on a journey to Mikumi National Park, which takes around 5-6 hours. A lunch stop is included before proceeding to a late afternoon game drive through Visada, Kisungura Circuit, Mkata Drive, and Obama Circuit….
Day 1: Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park
Mikumi National Park - Guests will be collected from Dar es Salaam Airport or ferry and embark on a journey to Mikumi National Park, which takes around 5-6 hours. A lunch stop is included before proceeding to a late afternoon game drive through Visada, Kisungura Circuit, Mkata Drive, and Obama Circuit. The birdlife in this woodland savannah is remarkable, featuring lilac rollers, Hadeda ibises, and saddle-billed storks, often seen near hippo pools. Hippos and other wildlife can be observed for 3 hours until sunset, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Mikumi Bandas.
Day 2: Game Drive in Mikumi National Park and Visit to Masai Village
Mikumi National Park - After breakfast, a full-day game drive is planned to observe the wildlife in Mikumi National Park. The park’s expansive plains offer excellent opportunities to spot a variety of animals, including lions, elephants, buffalos, impalas, zebras, and more. Lunch will be enjoyed at the picnic campsites within the park. In the evening, a visit to a Maasai village (boma) is scheduled, followed by dinner and an overnight stay at Camp Bastian Mikumi.
Day 3: Camp Bastian Mikumi to Ruaha National Park (Evening Game Drive)
Ruaha National Park - Guests will be picked up from the hotel, enjoy breakfast, and then depart for Ruaha National Park, a journey of approximately 5 hours. Upon arrival, lunch will be served. An afternoon to evening game drive will commence, exploring the Great Ruaha River, which is vital for the park’s wildlife. Despite being one of the largest national parks in the country, Ruaha offers a remote and exclusive safari experience. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Ruaha Park Cottages.
Day 4: Game Drive in Ruaha National Park
Ruaha National Park - A full day of safari in Ruaha National Park is planned, focusing on the Great Ruaha River, Mwagusi Sand River, and Mdonya River. Lunch will be enjoyed in the wilderness, followed by further exploration of habitats for buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, antelopes, colorful birds, and plants until 6:30 pm, culminating in a stunning sunset in the East African Great Rift Valley. Dinner and an overnight stay will be at Ruaha Cottage.
Day 5: Morning Game Drive and Return to Camp Bastian Mikumi National Park
Ruaha National Park - An early morning game drive in Ruaha is scheduled until 8:30 a.m., followed by breakfast at the camp, lodge, or cottage. The game drive will continue until lunchtime, after which guests will travel to Mikumi town for dinner and an overnight stay at Camp Bastian Mikumi.
Day 6: Udzungwa Mountains National Park Hike
Udzungwa Mountains National Park - After breakfast, guests will depart the lodge and transfer to Udzungwa Mountains National Park, a 45-minute journey. Upon arrival, they will check in at the gate and embark on a 3 to 4-hour trek to the Sanje waterfalls through lush forests. Expect to see monkeys, including the rare indigenous Iringa red Colobus, and ancient trees, some over 200 years old. The day concludes with a transfer to Camp Bastian Mikumi for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 7: Camp Bastian to Dar Es Salaam
Dar es Salaam - After breakfast, a 5-6 hour drive to Dar es Salaam will commence, passing through familiar landscapes and vibrant villages. A lunch stop is included before continuing to Dar es Salaam. The adventure concludes with assistance from a Kihindo Tours & Safaris representative to the ferry, airport, or hotel.
