This was an incredible... - This was an incredible experience. We went snorkelling first and then went on the boat to the other side of Mnemba island. The crew drove us near to where the dolphins were jumping in and out of the water and we were able to take videos of them while underwater. We loved it!

Well organised - Hakim was a fantastic guide, well organised and fun. Expect a wonderful turquoise sea and in our case a number of dolphins, don’t expect a lot of corals as they are mostly dead (as everywhere).

Tornerò…. Maybe. - Unfortunately, I had the misfortune to run into a bad day, but this could have been avoided, just don't be fooled by those who sell you the trip, because they know when you can go And when not, anyway beyond that I saw really too many people, an anthill of people crowded trying to take two pictures of some fish, of course the dolphins are not always seen

To do - We were staying at Palumbo Mnemba view and we decide to make this excursion through the village. It starts from the fishing village of Matemwe and starts with boats to the island. In fact, no one tells you that you will never really land on the island of Mnemba since being deprived of Bill Gates it is not possible to access it even for zanzibars unless you stay there (1500€ / per day / per person). You then get a few miles from the island where you snorkel, which I honestly didn’t like very much because the area where you swim is too crowded with or boats and people bathing. We then move on to the tongue of sand that is truly A PARADISE. Fruit and coconut are served, you can take pictures with the monkey Happy and then leave to return. If you are lucky you can see the dolphins, some people from other boats would dive (even with the boat moving) to see them underwater, our guide advised against it. We then return to the beach in Matemwe where we eat grilled fish. They then took us to Kendwa beach to watch the sunset. Definitely to do, for me it is a positive experience

Not sure it was safe but decent snorkelling - The boat is very small as are most on these trips here. The sea was quite rough out at sea with the little boat slamming into the water and having to hold on for your life. Every wave you got a bucket of sea water hitting you full in the face. When dolphins were spotted we were told to jump in the water, when I resurfaced I was under the boat hitting my head on the hull but more concerned where the propeller was. When we got to the snorkel area there were lots of other boats some with propellers on and very close i.e. could literally touch them in terms of where we were snorkelling. Lots could have gone wrong. Did see plenty of fish but the rest of the trip was a bit like an endurance test !!

Survivors of the boat capsize - We booked the excursion at the resort but unfortunately we never arrived at the island of Mnemba because the small boat on which they made us get on, due to rough seas and commander probably not up to scratch, capsized in the open sea after 10 minutes of navigation. We were on board in 9 + 3 crew members. Despite our concerns given the rough sea and the presence of only 3 life jackets, we had to accept the situation also thanks to the reassurances of the crew. There is no doubt that we risked a lot, fortunately no one died but it was a truly shocking experience. We have to thank the presence of other boats that, having noticed the accident, rescued us and took us on board in small groups being already fully loaded. We've lost our glasses and cell phones, but we're still alive. If there is a next time, never again without a life jacket. Beautiful places, however, we strongly recommend that you never underestimate the superficiality with which the local organizers do their work which can prove too approximate in organizing excursions.
