Fantastic - The guides were fantastic, really helpful and experienced. We had a nice time with them. Other companies may offer better food, but I would recommend this one always since the goal is to reach the summit, and they are great in that regard

Experience of a lifetime, Kilimanjaro + Safari (Ngorongoro, Tangerine), July 2025 - We just got back to Croatia from our 6-day trekking adventure (Marangu Route). Everything was beyond perfect! If I were to do it all over again, I would have picked the same agency with the same guides. Everyone was so professional and helpful and fun. Emmanuel and Happyson answered all of our questions, were there when we needed them and they prepared us for the final ascend perfectly. No one was left behind. I was a bit slower than the rest of the group because of heavy breathing but I never felt like giving up especially because Emmanuel and Frankie were with me every step of the way cheering me on and I will forever be grateful for those moments. After conquering Mt.Kilimanjaro, 2-day safari was waiting for us. It went smoothly, our driver Benjamin was on time every morning and he explained everything we wanted to know about animals and more. Unforgettable Kilimanjaro Experience – Incredible Team and Adventure! - I recently completed the 6-day Marangu route climb on Mount Kilimanjaro, and it was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience! The entire journey was filled with adventure, stunning landscapes, and a level of support that exceeded all expectations. Our guides were absolutely amazing. From the very beginning, they provided us with clear and helpful information each day, always making sure we felt prepared and confident. There were several guides with us at all times, setting the perfect pace and offering constant encouragement. The summit night was the most challenging part of the climb, but they were incredible—keeping spirits high with songs, offering warm snacks and tea, and even giving us massages during breaks to help us stay warm and motivated. The porters were just as outstanding. They ensured all our belongings reached our huts before we did and were always kind, cheerful, and helpful. The organization and professionalism of the entire crew made the experience smooth and stress-free. A special mention to the food—it was delicious, nutritious, and kept us energized throughout the climb. It’s hard to believe such quality meals could be prepared in those conditions! I can’t recommend this experience enough. If you’re thinking of climbing Kilimanjaro, do it—and if you’re lucky enough to have a team like ours, you’ll come away with memories you’ll treasure forever.

They treated us like family. - This was the most unreal experience and the biggest achievement of my life. The whole crew was incredibly hospitable and welcoming. They motivated us every step of the way. Especially Emmauel, without whose positive energy I don't believe I would have made it especially on summit night which is the most physically draining and mentally challenging day yet the most fulfilling one. They treated us like family and the food was to die for. I really need the recipe to those soups. The porters were the sweetest people I have met and they went out of their way to take care of us. Overall, I cannot recommend them enough.

Thank you for amazing experience - Starting from arrival was feeling that guys are realy looking after you and make sure that your experience in a Tanzania is the best. Team was AMAZING! Africa Joy Tours were absolutely brilliant… - Zawadi and his wonderful team helped us reach the summit of Kilimanjaro on a 6-day climb back in September 2020. His team went above and beyond - the food was surprisingly good, they were friendly and when medical attention was required for someone with a stomach virus, they were brilliant in looking after our friend and seeking medical advice and drugs for treatment. All 20 climbers, reached the summit which is an incredible achievement and would certainly not have possible without the amazing Africa Joy Tours team around us. I would strongly recommend Africa Joy Tours to anyone and I would do it with them again if I managed to convince any of my family members to go!

Fulfilled my Kilimanjaro dream! - I planned the Kilimanjaro trek so that I could be at Uhuru peak for New year 2021 and it was dream come true! Mine was a solo trek with my guide Happyson, 2 porters and a chef. I can say confidently that without Happyson, I would definitely not have made it to the peak, a great feat for someone who hadn't really exercised for the past 3 months. He encouraged me constantly, sang for me, carried everything making it easier for me, slowed down the pace and took care of me like a member of his family. The trek in itself is an amazing experience. The landscape changes from rainforests to meadows to alpine desert to snowcap towards the peak. By the time I reached the peak, I was completely tired because of low oxygen levels and I was unable to walk anymore. Happyson and Godwin rescued me by half carrying me to lower altitudes till I could walk by myself. I highly recommend this tour. If you want to reach the peak, only Happyson can help you do it, while making sure that you enjoy the whole journey.

Spectacular mountain hiking and safari experience, amazing guides, would definitely recommend!! - My husband and I used Africa joy tours for a 6-day Mt kilimanjaro marangu route hike and a 6 days marangu and 3 days safari. We were very impressed with everything right from our first contact with them by email up to our whole trip. They worked with us prior to booking to customize the trip we wanted. Our mountain guide and porters were amazing and went above and beyond what we would reasonably expect. There is no way we would have made it up the mountain without them. Our safari guide was amazing as well and his passion for his job was obvious. He would guide us for 8 hour game drives and show us everything we wanted to see, answer all our questions, and teach us a ton about all the animals. His ability to spot them and knowledge was unbelievable. It is obvious that Lion King instills customer service as their number 1 priority with all their guides, as he wouldn't let us lift a finger while on our safari. Overall, we couldn't have been more impressed with the quality of service we received and would definitely recommend Africa joy tours to anyone looking for a safari, Mt Meru, or Mt Kilimanjaro hike tour.

Not a pleasant final/summit day - at all. And dreadful emergency car down. - Until the last day, this was a well-run hike. But then the last day descended into chaos. There were no scheduled breaks, we had to argue with the staff every time we wanted to stop and rest, and the the staff stood around mKing us feel uncomfortable. When we reached Gilman’s Point, exhausted after 6 1/2 hours, Clinton would not let me take a 5 minute break until I argued with him. It was very frustrating, and the need to argue added to the exhaustion. They split the party in two which meant I was alone with the guide - I also thought this was wrong. It took the enjoyment away from what should have been a mind blowing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this company at all. Later, I had to be taken down in an “emergency” van which was packed full of workers - not sick people.

Unprofessional Crew and is this even Africa Joy? - It was clear as soon as I got the the mountain that this was not the best tour operator. First of all, they showed up to my hotel 30 mins late and didn’t bother to tell me they would be late. I had to contact them. We then get to the park, check in, and I am just waiting there. The same company had a day tour that got there 20 mins after me and started 30 minutes before. The owner looked confused and asked why I was standing there. I said the guide told me to wait there. Within 5 mins he seemed to find the guide and we started. The food was fine along the way. I found it very strange how every other tour guide did a Blood Oxygen check every night but mine never bothered. I talked to another guide and he said that he thought it was very strange. The huts and hike it self are beautiful. After we started to go down the mountain the lead guide started to be 200-300ish yards behind me. Who knows what he was doing but definitely not being the guide. After we finished I told them I needed money for tip so we stopped at an ATM. I tipped out more than the suggested amount and still 2 of the members of the crew complained. Talk about unprofessional! I always stunned. Also, another bizarre thing was when I looked at my receipt with the national park it says my tour operator was a complaint called Uprise Africa Tours. The site here says Africa Joy. Very concerning consuming let’s say a family member needed to contact me. I’m assuming the park would say there is no Africa Joy on the park. Another random thing was they got caught speeding to and from the park! When I get back and complain to Viator they really didn’t seem to care. I would never come back and use this company or Viator anymore.
