Amazing week of safari and an extraordinary guide - Thank you Zara safari and especially our guide Peter Minja for an unforgettable week of safari. My father, my brother and I visited Tanzania in march 2025 and had the pleasure of having Peter as our guide. Together we saw more lions than we could count and shared so many laughs and other incredible sights. We stayed at the Highview hotel, Ikoma wild camp and at the coffee lodge of highview for 6 days total. All staff were accommodating and friendly. The rooms were mainly good, Ikoma wild camp by far being the best and most interesting with wild animals just outside the tents. Although we visited during rain season, we were fortunate to have mainly good weather, and for us the temperature of 20-25 degrees was perfect. We highly recommend Peter as a guide!

Simply the best! - If you are looking for a tour company to either summit Mt Kilimanjaro or go on safari, you need not look at further than Zara Tours. This is a great company! Founded and owned by a woman, it runs like a well-oiled machine. The staff are all amazing from the hotel to the mountain guides and porters to our safari guide/driver. They are warm, friendly, helpful, well trained, very efficient and resourceful (our safari guide, Joseph) fixed our jeep when it broke down, and completely committed to use having the best possible experience. Our safari was just great! We saw the ‘big five’ and so much more. The lodges we stayed in were lovely, solar powered, tucked into the bush. Can’t recommend this group highly enough.

Enchanting Magical Adventure - This safari trip with Zara Tanzania Adventures was enjoyable and fun and I would recommend the trip to everyone thinking of doing a safari in Tanzania. The Zara team particularly Zayina our Tour Designer made booking smooth and easy. She was prompt in her informed responses and so it was easy to pick out the activities that we wanted. She also helped us get luxury lodges for very reasonable rates. We would have ended up paying much more had we done this by ourselves.
Huge vote of thanks to Reagan for being an outstanding guide. He was kind, professional and a walking encyclopedia of anything Tanzania. His knowledge of the parks made the tour great. We were able to see all the big 5 in our first 2 days (Tarangire and Manyara) before we even got to the enchanting Serengeti. I observed that Reagan treated everyone with respect and was careful when driving in the parks so as not to spook the wildlife. When we came to an interesting spot, he would help us raise the canopy and patiently wait for us to soak in the scene to our fill.
The tour highlight was in Serengeti where we encountered countless wildebeest and zebras calving. This was Magical!!
Tanzania is so beautiful and diverse that we will need to a longer trip to experience it better.

A truly amazing Tanzania experience. - A must do life changing experience.
Our trip was coordinated by Hamis at the main office. He was so very thorough and helped us customize a trip that for our desires exactly.
Omari Chambo guided us on a 6 day safari. He was the most caring, friendly, and knowledgeable guide we have ever had. A truly exceptional person, superb service and professional in character.
The variety of accomodations was just what we wanted. Springland serves as a great start and end home base. A very special shout out to Amadeos and Benjamin for their exceptional service and kindness.
Coffee Lodge was so very nice and the Wildebeest Camp is not to be missed.
All in all, one of the best trips we have ever taken. Many thanks to the entire Zara team.

Hakuna Matata! - We had planned an adventure of a lifetime: visiting Africa for the first time, and going on a photographic safari in Tanzania’s wildlife parks! But, we actually got more than that, thanks to Zara!
Things started going well since we first contacted them, and started planning our trip (without actually knowing what we were getting into). A very well trained customer-relations clerk, Pearl, returned our call and put us in the right direction, establishing the contact with our local (Tanzanian) contact person, Hamis. We followed with all sorts of questions, and all our concerns and queries were addressed and answered.
This followed with our actual arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, where friendly staff (Tudi) was waiting for each of us, and friendly drivers (Omari and Mombole) not only safely drove us (accommodating our different arrival times) but also served as initial tour guides, pointing out landmarks along the way, answering all sorts of questions, and teaching us our first Swahili words.
The first day in Tanzania, lodged at the Springland Hotel, allowed for a good rest, after the transatlantic flight and numerous connections, and got us nicely refreshed after a hearty breakfast for our induction briefing. And, early next day, off we went! Startled by the sight of Mount Kilimanjaro, proudly rising over the prairie, with its snow-capped top overlooking the valley.
The expert guidance of our driver, Hamza, was present since the first kilometers. The driving was safe and smooth. The jeep was in pristine condition (and we have to praise Hamza for maintaining it as such, even after long days of driving in dirt and muddy roads, as each day it was as if the car had just been picked up from the dealer), and the stops along the way were well planned and well spaced. When we least expected it (and most needed it), there was a coffee/restroom available. When we were sufficiently introduced to the local culture, there was a stop to highlight the history of the place, or an amazing shop to buy souvenirs. When we were totally wiped out by hours and hours of safari, there was an amazing hotel waiting for us. When we started to get hungry, there was a well-prepared lunch or a tasty dinner. When we needed a hearty breakfast, the offer was ample. Oh, and don’t forget the highly-appreciated Tanzanian coffee!
Tarangire, the Serengeti, Ngorongoro crater, lake Manyara, and so many landmarks along the way, were more than we expected. Amazing wild life; extremely well kept environments; professional dedication of the tour guides; exceptionally clean facilites; and so much friendliness! It all contributed to the phrase/attitude that we heard so many times along the way: Hakuna matata! (i.e., everything is fine; enjoy life; take it easy).
At the end of each day, we had superb nights in the different lodgings provided by Zara, ranging from the friendly Highview Coffee Lodge in Karatu to the tent-based (glamping at its best!) Serengeti Safari Lodge, expertly managed by Nambapa (manager) and Eliza (assistant manager), proud members of the Maasai, who also became our WhatsApp friends. And, a special mention to the invaluable Maasai warriors, who spend the night outdoors, taking turns to sleep under the stars, so they may keep watch over the elephants, lions, and other big animals that wander through their domains over the Serengeti plains, coming sometimes too close to our tents; as attested by their calls/grunts!
In summary: Everything Zara says about itself in its website is but a humble representation of their accomplishments; reality surpasses it! We would (and will) go back for another unforgettable experience, as soon as we can!

Lowered the quality of the hotels without telling us - We were offered a package with a specific level in the hotels, but closer to the date of departure we were communicated there was no more space in 2 of the hotels and then changed to a significant lower quality. Since we already paid for the complete trip they didn't make any adjustment on the price. Since it seemed strange we check if there was indeed no availability in the original hotel, but to our surprise there was space... when discussing this with out tour manager he kept divagating in emails.
At the end wr decided no to continue discussing and enjoy the trip, but we were quite disappointed of the situation and we felt to some extent scammed.
Also, since we were only 2 people they assigned us a driver that was, in theory, at the same time tour guide, but this was not the case. He only drove is through the parks, but didn't give us any insights.
