Doable Day Trip and Fantastic Foodie Tour! - I can’t say enough good things about this tour with Mohammed as our guide. We were fortunate to be the only guests during our tour so we had a private guide for three hours. Mohammed first took us through the “new” city before guiding us through the Medina and souks. He explained more than just food traditions, but also a lot about Moroccan culture and politics. He is incredibly knowledgeable (with impeccable English as well as speaking many other languages and dialects) and he has personal relationships with many of the vendors we visited. All of the food we tried was new to us and delicious — amazing green tea with mint, local breads with cheese and honey, the best olives, dates and nuts, a fantastic smoothie, pea soup at a tiny local shop you’d never find on your own, and a fish pastry, then followed by a full meal of chicken and vegetable tagine and kebabs. You will not be hungry at the end of your tour! We did our tour on a day trip from Tarifa and the timing worked perfectly with the ferry. We stayed in an apartment in Tarifa (Puerta la Mar on booking.com) right by the port where we parked our car overnight, then we walked over in the morning to board the ferry that left at 9 am. We had the perfect amount of time after disembarking the ferry to walk to our meeting place with Mohammed (less than a mile, but you could take a cab), and then after the three hour tour, we had enough time to make it back for the 3 pm ferry back to Tarifa. Certainly wished we could have spent more time in Morocco and we hope to go back, but if like us, you’re seeing the south of Spain in a relatively short time frame, this trip is doable, and I can’t imagine having any comparable experience without Mohammed as your guide. Everyone we encountered was very kind to us, but we would not have known where to start on our own, and we learned so much that we never would have known without a guide. There are trips the start in Tarifa with a guide who will lead you on and off the ferry, but I doubt you would have the same experience we had with a local as knowledgeable as Mohammed (especially if you’re a foodie). If you’re debating this tour, all I can say is, we are so glad that we did it and we’d tell anyone who has a chance to do so!

Great food tour - Such a great tour.more than just a food tour. Mohammed was very proud to share his city and culture with us between food stops (we made at least 6). The food choices were typical daily foods, which is exactly what we wanted, and everything was very good. Highly recommend this tour if you are considering it.

Six star guiding - Having a teenager and a tweenager is a tough challenge for any guide; our guide Anas handled it like a pro. Anas was informative, friendly, calibrated his guiding to the family and we loved our time with him. That morning, I went on a tour with him going to some of the old haunts and hotels of writers from days gone by. That too was excellent . Six stars

Wonderful day - This was a wonderful tour. Our guide, Anas, was very knowledgeable and friendly. We visited “authentic” neighborhoods we never would have stumbled across on our own. The tour was rich in both history and food as well as having learned interesting facts from the perspective of a local.

Food tour in Tangier - On a recent trip to Tangier, my wife and I had the good fortune to take a food tour with Mohammed as our guide. Our goal was to wander through local souks, and to get some sense of what life might be like using food as a common thread. Mohammed is an exceptional guide. he brought us to neighborhoods that he has known since childhood, gave us the opportunity to sample a variety of foods, walked us through remarkable specialized souks, and provided an explanation of what we were seeing. When the tour was officially over, Mohammed continued to show us some additional sights: well above and beyond. As a tour guide, he did a great job of respecting the privacy of residents while satisfying the curiosity of his clients. If this is the sort of thing that appeals to you, I highly recommend taking a tour with Mohammed.

We got our steps in!!! - What a great way to see the souq & immerse ourselves in the culture! We first started in a locals market which allowed us to get a feel for 2 different market experiences! Got to taste local dishes we never would have had on our own. Also learned interesting historical facts about Tangiers, as our guide Yasmine, born & raised in Tangiers, was very knowledgeable. Loved that she was flexible as to what shops we visited & we never felt pressured to purchase. She was more concerned about our enjoying our experience! You will NOT walk away hungry from your time in Tangiers!!!

Make the tour personal - Our guide was prompt and very friendly, sharing interesting information about Tangier. Unfortunately it was a Friday, a quiet day with many restaurants closed. The few food stops were OK and then a walk through the Medina. We were brought to a carpet dealer, I felt terrible pressure by the vendor, as our guide sat back on his phone. The second stop was a “pharmacy “ again given the hard sale. Finally we said no more shopping. I think the guide should have asked what things we would like to see in the market. I would have liked to learn more about Moroccan spices, typical Moroccan clothing and cultural /religious activities. I would suggest starting with a glass of mint tea and together make a personal plan for the tour.
