Lovely time cooking and chatting in a real Tanger family home. - Fantastic hospitality and delicious tagine prepared from the start, chopping and peeling ingredients, then putting spices and everything together for a tasty and lovely tagine. We felt in a real Tanger family home and we had great conversations. An experience not to be missed if you're genuinely interested in real local people from Tanger. The arrangements and communication with Anwar before the experience were always professional and clear.

We had a wonderful time... - We had a wonderful time learning how to cook chicken tagine and a beef dish with Anwar and his family. There was so much food, and it was so nice to be welcomed into their home. Anwar’s mother graciously demonstrated her recipes, and we participated by chopping vegetables. They also served tea and sweets with the meal, and everything was delicious! We highly recommend this cooking class as a fun family activity.

Real authentic Moroccan food and not what they give you in restaurants - Anuar and his mom saved the Moroccan food reputation in our eyes, because we were not lucky to have tried tajin before in the restaurant VAndalusia. Latifa is such a great cook, the food is absolutely amazing. We could not get enough of it. Very beautiful experience. Not only you learn to cook but you have the opportunity to try what real Moroccan food is and not what they give you in restaurants.
Very recommended

Hands-On and Engaging - From the medina walk to the cooking class, this tour was full of memorable experiences. The guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging. The family cooking class was hands-on, and they explained each dish carefully. Eating the food we prepared ourselves was a highlight, and the hospitality of the family made us feel at home.

Cultural experience (not much cooking) - We had a wonderful time with Anwar and his family during our cooking experience in Tangier.
From the start, Anwar was communicative and made the pickup process seamless, which was much appreciated after a long journey. He welcomed us into their home, where his mother was already busy preparing a delicious traditional tagine.
While this isn’t exactly a hands-on cooking class, we still had a great time. Anwar’s mother did all the cooking, and we mainly helped by chopping vegetables while watching her prepare a classic Moroccan meal. The tagine was absolutely fantastic — full of rich, deep flavors that made the whole experience worthwhile.
To pass the time while the food was cooking, Anwar put on the Anthony Bourdain episode about Tangier, which was an interesting touch and added some context to the experience. It did, however, feel like a missed opportunity for more direct engagement and storytelling about Moroccan culture and daily life.
There were a few other aspects that could be improved. During the experience, Anwar asked for tips specifically for both his mother and the taxi driver, even though we had already paid in full, which felt a bit uncomfortable. Additionally, he could benefit from being more personable and engaging with guests — for example, sharing more insights about Morocco, its traditions, and his personal experiences. During the cab ride, he spent most of the time speaking with the driver rather than interacting with us, and at home, the TV took the place of what could have been meaningful cultural conversation. He was also on his phone engaging in other activities a lot.
Overall, it was a lovely and authentic visit to a local home, and we appreciated the opportunity to experience a different side of Tangier. That said, it’s better described as a cultural visit rather than a traditional cooking class. We would still recommend it to those looking for a cozy and unique experience, but with the expectation that it is more observational and informal than instructional.

Family cooking class? Not at all. - We had booked an appointment at 12 noon. At 22:15 the night before we were asked if an appointment at 16:00 would be okay.
At 3:20, he called to see if we could get out, he was just around the corner.
We were fortunately prepared and then waited together for a taxi.
After the short drive towards Medina we were allowed to get out and follow him to a restaurant. In the outdoor kitchen on the roof the cooking took place.
There was a mobile gas stove there.
The friendly woman named Fatima showed us the ingredients for the tagine. We peeled potatoes and carrots and cut onions into small pieces. This was then stacked in the tagine.
While the tagine was cooking we were led to a seller of argan oil where we spent more money than planned.
Then we were led back to the restaurant where we ate the tagine. There was tea, water, salad and bread.
On the way out, he gave us stuffed puff pastry bags.
For the trip back to the hotel he organized a taxi again and paid in advance before saying goodbye to us.

Disappointing experience - We peel1 carrot,1potato and 1 onion. Then wait 45 min until the dish was ready. Misleading and expensive. Afrader! After our complaint we were promised a refund but it was never received.
