Highlights
  • Agni Theertham - Agni Teertha is a large tank renowned from the Ramayana. Here, Lady Sita asked Lord Lakshman to light a fire and sat inside it to prove her purity. Agni Theertham holds great significance among devotees, who come to offer prayers and atone for their sins by bathing in its holy waters. It is also visited by childless couples, who believe that a holy dip here, along with prayers to Lord Shiva, will bless them with children. There are 22 Theerthams, or holy water bodies, inside the temple where devotees bathe to atone for their sins. Each of these water bodies represents one of the 22 arrows in Rama’s quiver and holds special significance for devotees.
  • Arulmigu Ramanatha Swamy Temple - Next, we will visit the Ramanathaswamy Temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legend, Lord Ram visited this temple to pray to Lord Shiva to atone for sins committed during the great war of the Ramayana. The temple dates back to the 12th century and features a long corridor adorned with intricately carved pillars. We will pay our respects to the main deity, worshipped here in the form of two lingams. One lingam is made of sand by Lady Sita, while the other was brought from Mount Kailash by Hanuman. After visiting the deities, we will end the walk at the longest temple corridor in the world. The third corridor of this temple, built in the late 18th century by Muthuramalinga Setupati, has more than a thousand pillars and is a magnificent sight. It measures 640 feet in the north and south, 400 feet in the west and east, and is nearly 7 meters tall.
  • Kothandaramar Temple - This temple, over a thousand years old, is dedicated to Lord Ram. It is situated on an island surrounded by the Bay of Bengal and the Gulf of Mannar. According to legend, it was here that Vibhishanan, the younger brother of Ravana, surrendered to Lord Rama, who later crowned him to rule Sri Lanka. The temple was also on the itinerary of Swami Vivekananda during his historic visit to Chicago for the World Parliament of Religions. It is one of the few structures that survived the deadly cyclone of 1964, which destroyed most of the surrounding towns.
  • Adam’s Bridge - Rama Setu - The viewpoint of the Ram Sethu bridge is located near the Kodandarama Temple. Note that the legendary bridge is now underwater and cannot be directly seen. We will only see the area under which the remains of the bridge are submerged.
  • Dhanushkodi - Next, we will visit the incredibly beautiful beach at Dhanushkodi, a thriving town destroyed by a tsunami. It is one of the best white sand beaches in India, located at the confluence of the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean.
  • Sri Panchmukhi Hanuman Mandir & Floating Stones - We will visit the Hanuman Temple to see a piece of the floating stone used to build the Ram Sethu bridge. The Five-Faced Hanuman Temple features the face of Hanuman in the middle, along with the faces of Lord Narasimha, Lord Adivaraha, Lord Garuda, and Lord Hayagriva on the sides.
  • Ramar Padam - This is the highest point in Rameshwaram and features the imprints of Lord Rama on a chakra. It is believed to be the resting spot for Lord Rama and his army before planning the assault on Lanka. Legend has it that Lord Ram stood here looking out for the whereabouts of Lady Sita.

Rameswaram - I had a one day tour from Madurai to Rameswaram. The car was very clean and fresh, the driver drove carefully. We met our guide in Rameswaram. He took me to the temple area and the ghost city and the see. After that I had an excellent lunch (on my fees) in a small, local fish restaurant. It was a very nice day.

Fantastic trip to the tip of India - I had a fantastic experience during this tour. I was picked up from my hotel in Madurai and we drove to the end of the coast of India at rameshwaram. The journey was amazing with my guide Meenaskhi enthralling with storied and facts about this part of India We visited an amazing temple in Rameshwaram which features in the Ramayana epic. The corridor in this temple was mesmerizing and no less than any world heritage site. I was told it is the world's longest corridor. The sculptures and art work on the ceiling was outstanding. I also loved the island of Dhanushkodi at the tip of India, from here you can actually see the island of Srilanka. The entire experience was amazing and this is a highly recommend tour to appreciate South Indian heritage.

Memorable Rameshwaram tour - i came to Madurai on work abd decided to explore on Sunday. I had heard of Rameshwaram and found this day tour option from Madurai by 5 senses walks. The experience was phenomenal. The temple with the world's longest corridor was a mind blowing piece of work. Our guide Meenakshi was brilliant and explained to us about the connection of the various temples and ponds wih the Hindu epic Ramayana. Another memorable experience was the under sea bridge supposed to have been built in ancient times. We did get to see a floating rock as evidence. It was truly a culture immersion. It is very highly recommended.

Dont fall to unnecessary poojas & get check agents detail - Temple Darshan were amazing..with only help of agents roaming around..or its difficult to do be in queue for hours for just a second glimpse of idol..where you travelled so far..so getting agent along and doing Darshan with them makes your trip seemless. Dare to ask details and steps..or you can get a miss..you wont know. Getting your pooja, dane correctly with starting from East gate only with prior pitra pooja, done for all deceased members of family...but its a puja ritual with just to get more money..and not done with peace of 5 min..as next customer is waiting for you to finish ..so be careful with all agents. You need to double check all..as all drivers too are in collaboration as you dont know their language..or do your survey well
