The red sandstone of Charyn has been shaped and colored by wind, water, and sand. Some cliffs resemble specific figures, leading to names like the “Valley of Castles,” the Witch’s Gorge, and the Ghosts Gorge.

Itinerary
09:00 – Depart from Almaty (3.5-hour drive, approximately 200 km).
12:30 – Arrive at Charyn Canyon, walk through the Valley of Castles to the river.
13:30 – Enjoy a picnic lunch by the river.
14:30 – Free time for exploration, photography, and optional short hikes.
16:00 – Walk back to the parking area.
