Awesome fishing day. - We had a great time! We decided to go for quality over quantity and all got to reel in a sailfish. We had amazing weather, despite it being rainy season. This was our families first deep sea fishing adventure and we can’t wait to do it again. The food was very good as well.

Amazing Day of Fishing - In summary, the Rhino Charger is an amazing fishing charter, my only regret is that I cannot rate them higher than 5 stars. I did a solo fishing trip with the Rhino Charger in July, because my buddies didn’t want to fish (their mistake). Tamarindo has no marina, so I got picked up at the beach by the shipwreck (with a bunch of other people for other charters). Leading up to the trip, there is great communication with Rick and his team. They are highly responsive and will answer any questions you have. The boat is immaculately clean and well maintained. You fish with a captain and two mates (thank you Mikhail Nacho and Victor!), they did an excellent job of explaining how to fish, techniques, etc. They will also fish for what you want – just tell them, and they will make it happen. Having a bigger crew makes the experience so much better – for example, since there are multiple trolling lines, once a fish is on, one mate helps you get situated, while the other brings up the additional lines, and the captain steers the boat. We drove out for about an hour, during which I was lucky enough to see some dolphins and a whale. Once we got to the spot, they set out the lines, and we started trolling. No other boats in the area at all. Maybe an hour went by, nothing ….. and I’m thinking about what a bummer it was going to be to not catch anything. Then, boom, sailfish was on, and 10 minutes later, I got to cross something off of my bucket list. Just about non stop fishing after that. Long story short, it was the most outstanding day of fishing in my life. Final tally was 4 sailfish and 8 tuna (got to keep 5, one got off). At one point, we had three tuna on at once, every time I got a fish on board, Nacho or Victor handed me another pole, it was surreal in the best possible way. The crew filleted the fish, one bag for them, 4 for me. They recommended Walter’s to cook it up, and it was a great choice, a tuna feast! Even with that, and having another tuna dinner the next night, I took home about 15 lb of tuna (no problem getting through customs at Costa Rica or Newark). All the other reviews that raved about the pineapple snack and homemade lunch are right on the money – food was so good. Plus a cooler full of soda, water and beer. One other thing – the Rhino Charger is FAST – when we were coming in, there was another boat coming back, off to the side …. we left them in the dust. Faster boat = more fishing time. The Rhino Charger may not be the cheapest option out there, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. There are no guarantees in fishing, but I felt that they would give me the best change to catch some fish – and I could not have been more right. So if you are looking for an amazing fishing trip with a friendly, competent English-speaking crew, look no further than the Rhino Charger.

Unforgettable memories - The captain and crew were so professional and amazing. They were all business and worked really hard for the bites we got. We landed 3 sailfish (our first!) and i reeled in a huge one. The boat had awesome shade and the breeze felt amazing thru the front windows. The gear was great and the snacks and lunch hit the spot. Such an awesome time. Will definitely do it again the next time we come!

Great crew. Memorable experience. - Crew was excellent. Michael, nacho and victor on the rhino charger were friendly. We caught a marlin and a mahi mahi. Brought a 9 and 10 year old and it was a long day for them but the snacks, lunch and dolphins and 2 fish catches helped break up the day. They gave us a choice of quality or quantity for fish and we chose quality. It was a long boat ride out and back in but well worth it. Great day!

3/4 day trip in Feb. 2024 - Went on a 3/4 day trip in Feb. 2024. You get picked up in a panga from the beach and head to the boat. (no docks or marina in Tamarindo). Everything was ready and we headed out almost immediately. Our Captain Michael and his deckhands worked hard to put us on fish. We ran ~20miles south and put out a spread of 5 baits and 2 teasers. Caught 2 skipjack tuna right off the bat, then a nice sailfish! Were treated to a great homemade lunch, and right before it was time to head back, landed a 2nd sailfish. (Both released boat-side.) Great trip. The boat is roomy and above average for the area. I highly recommend.

Fantastic fishing charter - Michael, Nacho, and Victor were wonderful. We had a great time. Caught a sailfish and some dolphinfish. They were wonderful at helping us throughout the entire trip and fed us well. I would highly recommend this crew to anybody.

Amazing Fishing Trip! - My wife and our son and his wife booked a 3/4 day fishing trip with Rhino Charger out of Tamarindo CR. The Captain and crew were very knowledgeable and friendly. We caught a Mahi Mahi which the crew cleaned and packaged for us to take back to our hotel to be cooked. We also caught two sailfish. Overall it was an amazing experience and would highly recommended to anyone looking for a great day of sport fishing. We will definitely book another trip with Rhino Charger on our next trip to Costa Rica.

3/4 Day: Horrible crew, no bathroom, caught yellowfin tuna - Crew was terrible. Lacked customer service. Did not speak to us - at all. Did not instruct us. Gave up actively looking for fish at 11:30 (kept trolling but no change in lures, location, etc), just sat back and relaxed. Daughter never got a chance to fish. Promptly at 1:00, pulled in all the fishing gear. Didn't give us any warning nor apologize that she didn't get a turn (yes, I realize fish are not always around). I did pay $1200 (plus an obligatory tip!) so some effort to TRY and get a fish for her would have been much appreciated. I also chose a boat with a bathroom (as there were 2 females in my group). There was no bathroom - just a "toilet" seat (hole?) in the "breakroom" where our lunch was prepared. We did catch a few yellowfin tuna which was super fun and the only redeeming feature. I would NOT go with this group again. Very disappointed. 1-star for crew, 4-star for fishing.

Scam, no interest in helping you catch fish - This was a total scam. Paid for all day, got 3 chances to fish with proper gear & tackle. No snacks. Fruit was half rotten pineapple, that they cut with rusty knife off a cutting board they dug out from behind a cooler. Crew took first piece and refused to eat anymore. Fumes from engine flooded the whole cabin. Everyone was getting sick and headaches. Maybe worst part was crew flat just ignored us, wouldn’t talk to us. Captain Michael was known for always showing up late by the other captains. He over half hour late for our fishing trip. We hooked into nice fish 2 of the 3 times using right tackle. Then refused to set up tackle anymore and drove around for 2 1/2 until we couldn’t deal with exhaust and request to end trip.
