Tamarindo is one of the best surf spots when it comes to learning how to surf. With clean, gentle waves you’re gonna have a blast while also feeling safe. Only thing you need to bring is your swimsuit, sun screen and a positive attitude! Let’s catch some good waves together.

We meet at the PARKING right next to the restaurant “El Vaquero”, look for the purple flag that says “La Muda” or ask the parking guy/girl for “La Muda Surf”. If you for whatever reason have trouble finding us, you can ask for La Muda Surf, Carlos Brown, Isabella Carrera and Jeison Brown.

Great Experience - My friend and I were visiting Costa Rica and wanting to learn how to surf. The instructors were super friendly and helpful, making it a very enjoyable experience I would do again.

Awesome surfing lesson!!! - Carlos was great getting us prepared to hit the waves. Brian and Chino were awesome in the water. I never thought I would be able to stand up but they know what they are doing. Me and the girls got some nice runs in. Highly recommend this company.

Awesome!!!!! - Chino and Juan Carlos were awesome. Both my kids were right up and surfing within a few minutes. I was not as quick but they were patient and had me surfing too! Kids said it was an awesome experience that made their trip!

Surfing Fun with La Muda! - Wow! Thank you so much to the staff of Lá Muda Surf school for helping our family (adults 48 and 45 and twins aged 15) check off a bucket list item. We had an absolute blast taking a surf lesson together. With only one other person added to our group, the instructor to student ration was awesome. As promised, everyone was able to stand up before the lesson ended. Even an accidental broken nose for the rugby player in the group didn't stop the fun. We're so grateful to have spent a morning surfing in beautiful Tamarindo...it certainly was an awesome memory to have made. We're thankful, too for @leosurfshots for capturing the memories.
We highly recommend the morning for a lesson, as it certainly got busier in the water as the day progressed.

Chino is the best! - Great for beginners, great instructors. My first time surfing they simplified everything and went at your pace. Very helpful instructors. Smaller group was great for more personalized experience

Hang Ten in Tamarindo - Amazing experience. You will surf if you have La Muda teach you. Very patient with clear instructions and feedback. Nobody was impatient even when we struggled at first. They were very encouraging. And I have the pictures to prove we did it.

Hang Ten in Tamarindo - Excellent experience. Doesn’t matter at all if you have an inkling of an idea on surfing…you will surf. Might just be for 10 yards, but still counts. Instructors were so patient and gave clear instructions and feedback. This is a must do in Tamarindo.

Best surfing school ever - stood up my first try - Wow wow wow 100/10! Carlos the owner is super experienced and kind! Did a super thorough safety training where I felt ready to go! Our water instructor chino was also amazing! I stood up on my first try and started getting the hang of it. Would totally recommend to anyone, really great teachers and super cool fun fact! Carlos actually competes nationally and has years of experience! Amazing time with them!

Excellent in every way - My teenage daughters and I enjoyed every aspect of this experience. Carlos was excellent at teaching us the basics on the beach and the other instructors in the water were patient and very encouraging the entire time. My daughters were nervous before we started and they were instantly put at ease and can’t stop talking about how much fun they had. Carlos also captured some great pictures of us making a core memory. What a great experience!

Best Surfing Ever! - I loved that they walked my mom and I through how to use the board, and how stand up on it. It was very helpful when they let us practice on the sand first as well. They gave us long sleeve shirts to wear so we don’t get sunburnt. Everyone was so welcoming and it was so fun surfing, they taught really well and my mom and I both were able to surf some waves multiple times. (We both have never surfed before) Would definitely recommend!!
