Great day trip, 100% worth it - I went on the waterfall hike, sloth sanctuary, and coffee and chocolate tour with my mom and friend and had a wonderful day! Esteban was our guide and he was so kind, delightful, and knowledgeable about the area. He was early for the pick up and even allowed us to stop on the way back to get a few things from the store. It was really interesting to hear about (and see!) all the different creatures of the rainforest. The lunch was FANTASTIC (chicken is the one pictured). Definitely one of the best meals on our trip. You will not regret booking this experience. I definitely recommend bringing a rain jacket if you have one (obviously as you will be hiking in the rain forest) but if you do not, they do sell plastic ponchos in the parking lot for about $2 each.

Excellent well rounded day trip to the rain forests of Costa Rica - This was a fantastic day trip from Tamarindo. We didn’t have a car, but they picked us up even though we weren’t staying on the main strip. This covered all the things we hoped to see in the rain forest. The guides were excellent at helping us spot animals on each of the tours. They weren’t too strenuous of hikes, and we went to the national park first to miss the crowds. Esteban was excellent. He helped us with all our questions and knew great recommendations for the area. He was so friendly and helped us place our coffee orders in the areas where others didn’t speak as much English. He even waited for us to hit the grocery store after our bathroom break on the way home so we could pick up dinner for the evening. Fantastic guide and fantastic day. Can’t recommend enough. Bring a rain coat! There were ponchos for sale at the national park, but they don’t call it the rain forest for nothing.

Must do - Fantastic experience for all ages. We saw Sloths up close along with snakes, frogs and birds. The waterfall was amazing and the Costa Rican lunch was very good. Jose is an expert in the flora and fauna of Costa Rica and was a terrific tour guide.

Book this tour! - Estoban is the best! The line down to the waterfall viewing platform was bananas, but Estoban was an expert at navigating the gaggle of people. Be warned, the hike into Rio Celesete is intense. You will feel this hike for days after - it's not for beginners or anyone with mobility issues. Also, go as early in the day as possible- our tickets were for 11am and we thought the park was crowded. However, when we left around 12:30, the entrance was a madhouse, people lined up for quite a ways for the afternoon timeslots. Despite the crowds, Estoban served as our photographer and we got some amazing pictures. The visit as Paradise Springs was my favorite part of this activity. We saw sloths, frogs and eyelash vipers. The local guide and Estoban were experts at taking pictures with our iphones and we scored some amazing sights. The coffee and chocolate demonstration were informative and a good way to end the activity. I learned a lot about coffee and cacao! There are some many good things I could say about this activity and would highly reccomend to anyone looking for some exploring when they are visiting Costa Rica.

Jose is the very best!!!! - We took the blue waterfall + coffee/chocolate + sloth tour yesterday with a group of 8, and we couldn’t have been more pleased. What an incredible experience! Junior, our driver, was very kind. Jose was our expert guide — be sure to request him! He is very personable and easy to talk to and has over 30 years of experience in his role. He knew every single thing there was to know about the locations we visited, the vegetation along with the abundant wildlife ehich he pointed out to us! At the beginning of our trip, he asked what we wanted to see, and we threw out a pit viper, tucan and sloth — he made every one of those happen in spades and made them his concerted focus of the day! He did whatever he could to keep us comfortable, safe and informed — as it was a very rainy day (fitting for the rainforest) — helping the kids and an adult with a bad knee every step of the way through the more challenging parts of the hike. The lunch at the authentic CR spot was just awesome and such a fun way to experience the local culture. Jose even took tons of photos and shared them all with us (his camera is incredible!) so our full rainforest adventure adventure was well documented. Absolutely, positively take this tour! It was a long day for us coming from Hacienda Pinilla, but it was so worth it!!!

Jose is the best! - This day trip was truly incredible. Our tour guide Jose was so knowledgeable, passionate, and considerate. Jose made the two hour drive to the first stop feel like fifteen minutes - anything there was to know about Costa Rican biodiversity and nature, Jose knew it! We saw so much wildlife from baby sloths and howler monkeys to green eyed tree frogs and eyelash vipers. Jose knew exactly where to look to find them all and took some awesome pictures for us. The lunch was delicious as well as the chocolate and coffee tour. We will remember this day trip for a lifetime. We couldn’t recommend this tour enough especially with Jose as a guide!

Guide was so knowledgeable! Saw amazing things! - Our guide, Jose, arrived right on time, in fact was there early in a nice SUV. The drive from Tamarindo to the National Park at Tenorio Volcano (approx 90 minutes) flew by as Jose shared so much interesting information about the area, including the culture and history of Costa Rica. The hike into the National Park was fascinating and he was constantly on the lookout for wildlife. Lunch at a local spot was delicious. The visit to the Coffee/Chocolate farm was brief and informative. We were lucky to see a sloth in addition to multiple birds, monkeys, gorgeous flora, and a couple of particularly beautiful, albeit poisonous little snakes. Be prepared with insect repellant and a raincoat or poncho. We had heavy rain, which was part of the experience and didn't detract from the hike to the spectacular falls.
