Highlights

Depart from Durban and head off to Tala Game Reserve

Tala Private Game Reserve - We depart from Durban at 7am and head off to Tala Game Reserve where we go on a 4 x 4 Game Drive Vehicle to see various wildlife. Tala spans some 3,000 hectares, encompassing a mix of acacia thornveld, open grassland and a sensitive wetland, which attracts more than 380 bird species, and plenty of big game, including the rhino, kudu, hippo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest and much more.

Natal Lion Park - From Tala Game Reserve we proceed to Natal Lion Park. In Natal Lion Park we take a self drive where we go to see lions and elephants.

Howick Falls - From Natal Lion Park we proceed to view the Howick Falls. The Howick Falls is a spectacular 95 m waterfall.

Nelson Mandela Capture Site - From Howick Falls we proceed to the Nelson Mandela Capture Site, also in Howick. Nelson Mandela was arrested on 5 August 1962 outside Howick,
Natal, South Africa. He spent the next 27 years of his life in prison.

The Nelson Mandela Capture Site commemorates this moment in history with a visitor centre and a world renowned sculpture.
At Nelson Mandela Capture Site we visit the Museum and the world renowned Nelson Mandela Sculpture.

Underberg - From Nelson Mandela Capture Site we proceed to Underberg where we spend the night. Underberg is small but is a popular tourist town, thanks to its natural beauty, its own generous offering of things to do and see, and its ideal position in the heart of KZN. This is a stunning destination for nature-lovers and anyone that wants to experience the healing and restorative effects of the outdoors.

After breakfast we proceed to the Sani Pass on a 4x4 Vehicle.

Sani Pass - Sani Pass is the mother of all South African mountain passes. Statistically and in every sense, it out distances, out climbs, and out performs all it’s competitors with consummate ease to have become the most iconic gravel pass in SA.

Situated between KZN and Lesotho the pass was built circa 1950 and remains a challenging drive in 4x4 vehicles with all the drama, scenery, bad weather and treacherous conditions expected of a pass with a summit altitude of 2876m ASL.

This is high altitude stuff. Go prepared for bad weather at any time and expect snowfalls as late as October. Snow has fallen on the pass in every month of the year, albeit not in the same year.
We visit he highest pub in Africa and a village in Lesotho.

Durban - After a tour of the Sani Pass we then return to Durban arriving at around 6.30pm to conclude the 2 day tour
