Super fun time! - My husband, adult son and I went to the Asakusa Sumo Show last month and thoroughly enjoyed it. It was really fun to learn a bit about Sumo wrestling and it was presented in a very fun and relaxed way. This activity is excellent for families with young children but my Husband and I are seniors and our son is in his '30's and we too had a great time. The venue is great and there are dining tables set up around the actual sumo ring. You get a Hot pot meal which was very good and nicely presented along with one beverage. The food is all you can eat. We were full with the first serving so didn't order more but you could have if you'd wanted to. At the end of the show you can have your photo taken with the Sumo wrestlers. Great souvenir! There's a nice little gift shop at the entrance and on your way out after the performance they present you with a little gift bag of souvenirs which was really nice. The tickets worked out to be about $150 Canadian each. We had a great time and we'd really recommend this event!

Don’t Miss It! - One of the most enjoyable experiences of our time in Japan. Great food and fantastic entertainment. The sumo wrestlers put on a great show and were very animated, friendly and engaging with the crowd. The MC was excellent and very informative. We could not recommend this experience more highly. We went as a couple, but there is no age category that would not enjoy this great performance!

Must go in Tokyo - If in Tokyo you must go to this show. An excellent way to spend an evening. The show it's self is extremely entertaining and good fun. Food and drink are reasonable and it's all you can eat. It's a small intimate area but that add to the show. Can't say much more but must go!

Fun night, but “VIP” seats are a waste. - We had a good time overall, but I strongly recommend skipping the VIP seats. My husband, our adult children, and I went for a fun night out, and I assumed the “VIP” tickets would offer better access to the wrestlers and enhance the experience. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Once the show begins, staff remove your food trays—for safety reasons—so your “all-you-can-eat” experience ends before the action even starts. That was a letdown. There’s also a segment where audience members can wrestle with the athletes, which sounds exciting. However, the dojo selects only four participants from each side of the room. If more than four people volunteer, they draw straws to decide who gets to participate. While that’s fair in theory, it begs the question: why pay extra for VIP if you’re not guaranteed any added benefit? And don’t expect a better view from the front row. With only four rows total, every seat offers a similar vantage point—so there’s no real advantage to sitting up front. Bottom line: it’s a fun and unique experience, but save your money and skip the VIP upgrade.
