• Senso-ji Temple - According to legend, in 628 AD, fishermen discovered a statue of Guanyin in the Sumida River and built Senso-ji Temple to house it. The temple features a massive red lantern inscribed with the Chinese characters for “Thunder Gate.” As a symbol of Asakusa, it draws numerous local and international visitors who come to take photos. The lantern stands nearly 4 meters tall and weighs 700 kilograms, making it quite impressive. Statues of the God of Wind and the God of Thunder flank the Thunder Gate.
• Ueno Park - Ueno Park, Japan’s first park, spans approximately 530,000 square meters. It hosts significant cultural institutions in Tokyo, including the Tokyo National Museum, the National Museum of Western Art, the National Science Museum, and the Ueno Zoo. Originally a private garden of Kanei-ji Temple, Ueno Park became royal property after the Samurai War and has since been transformed into a public park, serving as a major gathering spot in Tokyo.
• Imperial Palace - The Imperial Palace is the residence and workplace of the Japanese Emperor. Located in Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo, it occupies the site of the former Edo Castle, where the shoguns of the Edo Shogunate once lived, though it is smaller than the original castle.
• Tokyo Skytree - Tokyo Skytree is a broadcasting tower situated in Sumida District, Tokyo. Jointly planned and constructed by Tobu Railway and its subsidiary Tobu Skytree, construction began on July 14, 2008, and was completed on February 29, 2012, with its official opening on May 22 of the same year. Standing at 634 meters, it was recognized by Guinness World Records as the “world’s tallest tower” on November 17, 2011, making it the tallest tower in the world. Note that tickets for this attraction are not included and should be purchased in advance if you wish to visit.
• Meiji Jingu Shrine - Built in 1920 to honor Emperor Meiji and Empress Shoken, this shrine is located in the heart of the city. It hosts numerous ceremonies and festivals throughout the year, with plenty of English signage to guide visitors in participating in traditional shrine rituals, such as offering sacrifices and prayers in the main hall, writing wishes on ema wood plaques, and purchasing good luck charms or amulets.
