- Shinkyō Bridge - Upon reaching Nikko, a panoramic view of the iconic Shinkyo Bridge can be admired from the bus. This sacred bridge, painted in vibrant red, elegantly spans the Daiya River and is one of the area’s most photographed landmarks.
- Toshogu Shrine - The next stop is the magnificent Toshogu Shrine, the opulent mausoleum of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. Here, you will witness one of Japan’s most beautiful and ornately decorated shrines, famous for its vivid colors and intricate carvings, including the renowned “Three Wise Monkeys” and the “Sleeping Cat.” You’ll explore the various buildings within the complex, including the five-story pagoda, while learning about the Tokugawa family’s impact on Japanese history. After a 40-minute bus ride, you’ll arrive at the Kegon Falls area, where you’ll have 1 hour and 20 minutes of free time to admire this 97-meter-high waterfall. You can walk to the observation deck or take an elevator to get closer to the base of the falls. This is also an ideal time to enjoy lunch at a nearby restaurant, where you can savor local specialties like yuba (tofu skin) or freshwater fish dishes.
