Midian Tour with Visits to Biblical Sites
Catalina Seaplane Wreckage - Discover the remains of a PBY-5A Catalina, an American military seaplane from the 1930s. It has rested on the beach since March 22, 1960, when retired American businessman Thomas Kendall landed near Ras Al-Sheikh Hameed, Saudi Arabia, during his world tour with his children and secretary. They spent the night there, but the following afternoon, they were attacked by Bedouins with machine guns and automatic weapons, mistaking them for a military threat. Mr. Kendall attempted to start the Catalina, managing to move it about a kilometer before it ran aground on a coral reef. Abandoned on the beach for many years, the Catalina has now become a significant tourist attraction.
Al Suaedni Well - Visit the Moses Well at Maqna, where it is believed Moses assisted Jethro’s (Prophet Shuaib) daughters in drawing water for their sheep. This is the first place where Moses (Musa) met Zippora, Jethro’s daughter, whom he later married.
Magha’er Shuaib - Midian (Al Bad) is the land where Moses spent 10 years in voluntary exile before returning to free his people from Pharaoh Ramses II. It is also the homeland of Jethro (Prophet Shuaib), Moses’ father-in-law. The Mugha’yer Shuaib emerges from the reddish desert west of Tabuk. Moses lived here for a decade under the patronage of Prophet Shuaib, who was impressed by Moses’ chivalry and offered his daughter’s hand in marriage. Moses eventually returned to Egypt, but this beautiful place likely remained in his memory.
جبل السفينة - Visit Jabal Safina, the “Ship Mountain,” named for its ship-like appearance from a distance in the middle of the Hesma desert. The area includes archaeological inscriptions on its rocks. Get closer to the mountain, take some photos, and then return to your vehicle for the next stop.
متحف حسمى - Tabuk Local Museum. Visit the local museum to learn about the history and culture of the city.
Jabal Al-lawz - • Begin your historical journey at Jabal Al Lawz, the highest peak in the Tabuk region. Explore ancient inscriptions and rock art depicting bovines. Some believe this mountain to be Mount Sinai, where Prophet Moses (PBUH) encountered God.
• Midday:
• Visit the Golden Calf Petroglyphs, depicting the biblical story of the Golden Calf. This rock art provides insight into an important religious event.
• Explore the 12 Stones of Moses, situated near Jabal Al Lawz, offering a glimpse into ancient ceremonies and spiritual significance.
Aldisah Valley (The Valley Of Palms) Tour And Grand Alshaq Canyons Visit
Tabuk Castle - This castle, located in the town center, is the oldest, built in 1559 during the Ottoman Empire. Explore Tabuk Castle, the Hijaz Railway Station, take some photos, and return to your vehicles.
Al Shaq - The Great Canyon Alshaq (Ledge of Neom) is known as “The Tear” due to the earth being literally torn apart by tectonic forces. This site, also known as the Great Canyon of Saudi Arabia, is located in the Tabuk region between Jabal Hesma & Wade Qaraqir, near Shiqry village. Take a walk and explore the ledge of NEOM. An overhang offers a perfect spot for a souvenir picture. You can also see the famous Lion Mountain, which resembles a lion’s face. Conclude the experience and return to your vehicle.
Wadi Al Disah - (Disah is mainly located in the Prince Mohammed bin Salman Natural Reserve) in the Southwest Province of Tabuk.
1230h Arrive in Disah Valley (The Valley of Palms). Upon arrival, you’ll see why. The lush valley floor is surrounded by massive sandstone cliffs and pillars, and beautiful palm trees perfect for exploration, followed by lunch at a local farm.
After lunch, prepare for a 4x4 vintage car adventure and take a safari tour inside the valley. Enjoy the flourishing nature, high mountains, water springs, and the captivating beauty of the valley. The amazing feature of the wadi is a water stream that runs through the western part of the canyon towards the city of Disah. Numerous palm trees, bushes, and high grass flourish between the majestic cliffs of the canyon. Enjoy discovering the old engravings on the walls of Nabatean Gate. Hike and nature walk around the valley, followed by coffee/tea with snacks.
