- Reykjadalur Gonguleio - This captivating journey starts in the delightful town of Hveragerði, where participants are provided with a headlamp and guided along a picturesque trail into the night. The hike takes about an hour, gradually leading through stunning landscapes as daylight diminishes. As shadows deepen and the air cools, the valley transforms into a serene, almost mystical setting. Reykjadalur—meaning “Steam Valley”—is vibrant with geothermal activity. Bubbling hot springs, steaming vents, and earthy scents line the path, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that feels otherworldly in the nighttime stillness. As participants traverse this surreal landscape, they will experience nature’s quiet power, surrounded by native flora and nocturnal wildlife in this distinctive ecosystem.
- Reykjadalur Hot Springs - The destination is a naturally heated river nestled within the hills, where warm waters await beneath a starry sky. During the Northern Lights season, this secluded valley becomes a natural stage for one of Earth’s most spectacular displays. Far from city lights, the sky above Reykjadalur provides ideal conditions for aurora viewing. Imagine soaking in the warm, mineral-rich waters of the hot river, steam rising into the air, while waves of green, pink, and violet light dance above. It’s a moment of pure enchantment—a sensory experience that harmoniously blends warmth, silence, and awe. Even when the auroras are not visible, the night sky here offers its own spectacle. On a clear night, constellations shine brightly above, undimmed by urban light. The stars appear closer, more vivid, casting a gentle glow over the valley. Whether floating in the river or sitting along its banks, the feeling is one of peace and timeless wonder.
