• Reykjadalur - The hiking adventure kicks off with a gathering in front of Reykjadalur Café, where participants will receive a headlamp and prepare to embark on the hike together. Please be aware that parking at the meeting location requires a ticket, costing approximately €5 per vehicle.
• Reykjadalur Gonguleio - This captivating journey starts in the delightful town of Hveragerði, where participants are provided with a headlamp and guided along a picturesque trail into the night. The hike takes about an hour, gradually leading through stunning landscapes as daylight diminishes. As shadows deepen and the air cools, the valley transforms into a serene, almost mystical setting. Reykjadalur—meaning “Steam Valley”—is vibrant with geothermal activity. Bubbling hot springs, steaming vents, and earthy scents line the path, creating a dreamlike atmosphere that feels otherworldly in the nighttime stillness. As participants traverse this surreal landscape, they will experience nature’s quiet power, surrounded by native flora and nocturnal wildlife in this distinctive ecosystem.

Far from city lights, the sky above Reykjadalur provides ideal conditions for aurora viewing. Located just a 40-minute drive from the center of Reykjavik, this adventure offers a 6 km (3.7 miles) hike with an elevation of 330 m (1090 ft). Rated as easy, the journey takes approximately 4 hours and is suitable for those aged 8 and above.
