- Tröll Expeditions Skaftafell - Join us on an adventure to Falljökull, an outlet glacier of Vatnajökull, Europe’s largest glacier. Here, you can marvel at the stunning views of Iceland’s majestic ice-covered peaks, towering over 2,000 meters (6,500 feet) above. These glaciers and their awe-inspiring landscapes have been featured in numerous films, including James Bond, Interstellar, and Game of Thrones.
A highly skilled glacier guide will provide all the necessary equipment, such as hiking boots, crampons, ice axes, harnesses, and helmets. You’ll then board the troll bus for a short ten-minute ride to the glacier parking area. From there, it’s a brief fifteen-minute walk to the ice’s edge, where your guide will show you how to put on crampons.
You’ll embark on a glacier hike to explore the local ice formations, including crevasses, deep fissures in the glacier’s surface, and moulins, which are often vertical shafts in the ice formed by melting water seeping into cracks and fissures.
Expect to spend approximately three hours on the glacier itself.
