An Experience (and Guide) to Remember - As first timers to Japan we were bummed we weren’t able to purchase tickets directly when they went on sale. I took a chance going through a third-party and it turns out the experience was probably even better than going on our own. We knew a little about sumo and the wrestlers, but our guide was a total fan. Her knowledge, props and excitement made the event even better. Communication before the event was great as well. Highly recommend!

Great experience watching sumo - We had a great time going to the sumo tournament. I really appreciated being able to learn more about the sport and follow things more closely during the day’s matches. Our tour guide, who referred to himself as the “tall guy,” made it was a terrific experience. I’d definitely recommend checking this out if you’re visiting Japan during the tournament.

Great time at Sumo Wrestling with Oku!! - My wife and I decided to see sumo wresting. Our tour guide was Oku and he was great. He had so much enthusiasm and he made the event wonderful. He explained what was going on and we were fascinated. Ask for Oku if you go on this sumo wrestling tour.

Tak is the best! - Our guide Tak was the best! Very knowledgeable and passionate about sumo. He explained the basics before we went in and then answered any and all questions during the match. I had been to sumo solo before and wasn’t sure the value of a guide, but Tak was well worth the price.

Must see - Sumo!!! - So glad I booked — some of the reviews were negative on the seats. They are nose bleeds for certain, but you can still see all the action! Our guide was good on sharing Sumo history and answering any and all questions about sumo and Japan more broadly. I tried to get tickets directly - difficult if not impossible if you are not an insider or know one, so just book this tour and carry on. It’s worth it.

A thrilling experience, but.... - Positives: 1. The tour company was very clear and thorough in their instructions and directions and even provided a video showing you where the meeting point was from the train. 2. We were directed to our seats, concessions, bathrooms, and other points of interest in the arena. 3. The matches themselves were a lot of fun and the crowd was really energetic. Negatives: 1. Access to the Sumo Museum is listed in the tour but we didn't get to go. The tour guide told us we could leave our seats at any time to explore but the museum closed at 4pm, so we were disappointed to miss out on that since we also didn't want to miss the action. 2. The radios provided for live English commentary were very poor quality and it was hard to hear or understand the commentator, so I ended up turning it off. 3. The price of the ticket versus the price of the tour was quite a markup. I'm not entirely sure it's a good value. It might be worthwhile if tickets for the tournament are hard to buy on your own and don't mind sitting at the back.
