Useful explanations before entering the arena - Had Ken as a guide. He gave a helpful overview of sumo (some history, interesting facts, rules, etc) as well as what to expect inside the venue (interior layout, where to buy chankonabe, etc). We then went into the venue at around 2:40pm. The makuuchi (senior division) entrance wasn't until 3:40pm, so there was more than enough time to explore the arena--no need to be in a hurry!

Great background info to hype you up before the tournament! - Great to have insight before watching a tournament. Our guide Rames was very informative and it was great to walk around the area to see the sumo stables.

One of the highlights from our trip was our sumo experience - Our guide did an amazing job and was very informative. The experience was great. Having the tour before the event really made a difference in understanding the history of sumo and the basic rules of the matches so we were able to enjoy the experience. The only thing that would have made it even better would be the email instructions could have been a little more detailed and thorough as to where we were supposed to meet. That waa confusing and we had to use Google translate to ask a lot of people around if they knew where we were supposed to go. Besides that, our guide in particular did an amazing job and I recommend the experience.

First Timer at a Sumo event. Definitely want to go again and learn more about it! - Oh man. Max was awesome. He took us to different points around the arena explaining the history of sumo, the workouts, the culture. Great knowledge to answer questions everyone may have. And he made sure we all knew exactly where to go to find our seats flawlessly.

Shogun is the king of sumo - Shogun was an excellent guide and an interesting person. We were fortunate to have him sit next to us inside the stadium. He shared some tasty snacks and gossip about his favorite wrestlers. So nice to have a guide who is also a fan

Tour was okay, tournament is once in a lifetime experience! - The tour was fine but I would have liked to learn more about sumo itself. The guide was friendly and jovial, but again some context with the tournament and its rules would have helped as well as details about the significance of the rituals in Japanese culture. We were very happy with the price and the tickets we received.

January Tournament - Guides are great, sumo is great! It would have been better if I could just watch sumo from the first thing in the morning. It was also a shame that the seats were not next to each other.
