Tree Climbing at Silver Falls - When considering options for a unique adventure, a family-friendly experience, or a must-do activity, this should be at the top of the list. No prior experience is needed, but participants must be 7 years or older.
For the first hour, participants will get equipped, practice, and learn how to use the equipment on a small tree before climbing the giant trees. Then, a short hike will lead to climbing some of the tallest trees in the world, reaching heights of 200-300 feet into the canopy of rare giant old-growth trees, offering an adventure that feels otherworldly. This is an opportunity to engage in a new and unique eco-tour activity that less than 0.01% of the population has experienced! During the introductory tree climb, participants will learn the basic skills of recreational tree climbing and rappelling, ascending into the upper canopy with stunning views of ancient forests and wildlife.
This experience is unlike anything encountered before.

Embark on an adventure to climb 200-300ft ancient old-growth trees, among the oldest and tallest in the world. This unique experience promises to create unforgettable memories!
Seize the opportunity to join the exclusive .1% of the population who have done this. Experience the only old-growth tree climbing activity available in Oregon State Parks. In small groups, ascend 1-3 trees ranging from 200 to 300 feet, tailored to your fitness level and schedule. Enjoy a unique view above the canopy and experience being eye-level with an eagle as you climb and swing like a monkey through the open air, safely secured by ropes. Scale some of the world’s tallest trees for breathtaking views of the upper canopy and ancient forest. Additionally, explore and learn about the fascinating ecology of old-growth trees during this exceptional eco-adventure.

Wow. What just happened? - We climbed almost 300 feet up a Douglas Fir. It was hard, not gonna lie. But Brett, our guide, was unfailingly patient and good natured. We felt safe and well cared for with him. They claim it’s a unique experience: they tell the truth. You get absurdly high in the canopy, you look down on the swirling mist below, you listen to the soughing wind through the forest. Or possibly you babble nervously with Brett to distract yourself from the creeping terror; that might have happened. Then you plummet back to earth, kiss the ground, try to regain control of adrenaline-sapped legs, and wonder if there’s time to go again. You realize that Brett is a 28-year-old wizard who has ushered you through danger to a place of swelling self-esteem. We did that. We did it and lived to write a review about it. If you love trees or woods, or if you just want to learn what you’re capable of after you turn 60, this is your adventure. Brett is your spirit guide to wonder.

Trip of A Lifetime! - I'm a 75 year old woman who climbed an Old Growth Douglas Fir tree and sat on one of its strong branches to do some sketching! How cool is that! After the practice climbs, I agreed with my sister that utilizing the assist so that we could make the most of our half day adventure to reach the branches of the main event tree by the creek made good sense. It's about 120' just to get to the first branches. Our guide Leo was tremendously patient, kind and friendly. A wealth of information about the correct and safe process, as well as the trees themselves. Ever since I read the book "The Wild Trees," by Richard Preston, I have wanted to climb a tall tree and Tree Climbing at Silver Falls was an excellent choice company! I'm already thinking I need to do some weight training focusing on my core strength, so that I can do this again without the assist. thank you Leo and Tree Climbing at Silver Falls for an experience of a lifetime!!!!

Once in a Lifetime? Come back for seconds! - Leo was a fantastic guide into this world aloft!
As a lifelong but aging climber, I appreciated Leo's attention to detail and safety, and his patient commitment to making my climb work. With the mechanics in place and an ecosystem tutorial, we could turn our focus to the amazing vertically organic space around us! A bonus for me was that Leo has oriented his business around accessibility, making it a gateway for people of a variety of capacities, across age, fitness, physical ableness, and emotional readiness for the challenges of the vertical. A special business, a special guide, a special experience!

Go climb a tree! - Decided to climb a tree for my 49th birthday! It was harder than I expected, so I got quite a workout, but my teenage son didn't have any trouble at all. Our guide was very patient and encouraging. He also changed me into a different harness that worked better for me. I didn't make it all the way to the top, but I went high enough for my satisfaction (180 feet) and enjoyed just swinging around. I probably could have pushed myself to make it up to the top, but I'm glad I didn't. I was pretty sore afterwards (but my son wasn't). Normally I am scared of heights, but I wasn't scared at all.

Magic in the Canopy - My husband gifted me this experience for my 40th birthday and it was the perfect way to enter a new decade! Leo was not only a great climbing guide but a true advocate for the conservation of remaining old-growth forests. It was magical to be up so high, with branches the size of trees providing a base for lush fern, lichen, and moss. Highly recommend!

Not the kind of climbing you’d expect but still very fun! - In my mind, I thought “tree climbing” would be more like physically climbing on the tree itself….this was not quite that, but still just as fun! If you are familiar with rock climbing, this is more like “ascending” up the tree on the rope itself. Though not what I was expecting, I had a great time and learned a new skill! It’s challenging enough to get your heart rate up, but the views, guides, and overall vibes are unbeatable. Would recommend doing with family or even as a work event.

Unique experience, beautiful setting and worth the trek - What a wonderful experience and rare opportunity. My daughter loved the climbing and felt very safe the entire time. There was a LONG introduction on the practice tree which meant she was climbing the taller tree partially in the dark. She was with a family who had teen kids with physical developmental differences and we all loved that they had adaptive equipment to make it possible for everyone to climb.

Do the overnight camping!!! - I wish I could rate this 6 stars! Where do I even start- wow wow wow is the way to sum up my experience. I had the most amazing guides who helped me through my hardest moments- even teaching me new ways to calm myself down through fear. I slept on a portaledge which was already set up for me- so many extra details made it even more magical (hot meals, drone video, sleeping pad/bag, not having to carry loads of gear, etc etc). I was able to just focus on the majestic scenery and out of this world feeling that is sleeping on top of an old growth forest. I couldn’t have asked for more professional people who were also friendly, encouraging, VERY safety oriented, & knowledgeable. Huge thanks goes to the owner Leo who accommodated my last minute reservation during a very busy week. I could go on and on and on but I’ll just say this- sign up for this experience/splurge for the overnight camping/consider the battery ascender if you’re not strong enough to do the physical climb… add this activity with this company to your ‘must do’ bucket list!!
