- Museo Nazionale di Villa Pisani - Villa Pisani in Stra is a magnificent late Baroque Venetian villa situated along the Riviera del Brenta, near the city of Stra, just a few kilometers from Venice. It stands as the most impressive, largest, and most frequented villa on the Riviera. Constructed on an existing structure, it was designed to honor the Pisani family’s prestige when Alvise Pisani became doge in 1735. Following the fall of the Serenissima, it became Napoleon’s property, and in 1814, the Austrians assumed ownership. When Venice became part of the Kingdom of Italy in 1866, Vittorio Emanuele II briefly resided there, and two years later, it was transferred to state ownership. Since the late 1800s, it has served as a National Museum. The villa has hosted numerous distinguished guests and visitors from across Europe, including Tsar Alexander I of Russia, Gustav of Sweden, Maria Luigia of Parma, and many others. In 1934, it was the venue for a meeting between Hitler and Mussolini.

The Riviera del Brenta, a renowned waterway connecting Padua and Venice, offers a captivating panorama rich in history, nature, art, and culture. As a natural extension of the Venice Grand Canal, it is lined with charming Venetian villages and set against an agricultural backdrop. The Riviera del Brenta has intrigued many notable figures throughout history: Casanova, Galileo Galilei, Byron, Montesquieu, and D’Annunzio have all visited; Canaletto, Cimaroli, and Tiepolo have captured its beauty in their paintings; and it has been celebrated in the works of Goldoni and Goethe. The area has hosted the French and Russian royal families, the Habsburgs, the Savoy, and even Napoleon, while the Venetian nobility chose it as the site for their opulent villas. Here, Venetians constructed splendid residences, surrounded by grand gardens, adorned with frescoes, and designed by prominent artists of the era such as Palladio, Tiziano, and Tintoretto.
