Unforgettable cooking experience in Stilos organic farm Veggera - Welcomed by Sofia and Vas as family, we enjoyed a cooking experience under dappled shade overlooking breathtaking views of the mountains and valley below. With fresh vegetables, cheese and meat collected from their organic farm, we set about cooking about 5 recipes. Into the big clay oven. While the food was cooking, we were taken on a farm tour, offered goat milking, egg collecting, holding newborn rabbits, chicks, etc. We were privileged to meet their grandmother (big Sofia) and hear some of her stories of farming the land with her husband. We picked grapes from the vines above our heads and saw where the wine making took place in the traditional way. Nothing, nothing goes to waste on this farm, including the stalks from the grapes. We enjoyed the meal and met their mother (Sofia), niece Sofula and a family godfather. We now have family in Crete!

Our hosts were so welcoming, we experienced and learned so much! You can tell they sincerely love doing this! It’s an experience not to be missed!

Warm hospitality and delicious food on a fun day in the countryside - It’s hard to put into words the magical, beautiful day we spent here. The entire experience was beyond my expectations - from the warm hospitality extended to us by everyone in the family we met to the delicious food we prepared, to the enchanting setting in the countryside, and more. We loved seeing the animals, even having a chance to milk the goats. Sofia guided us through the cooking with expert care and directions, and her brother Paraskevos was so kind to show us around the farm, explaining how he collects honey, how they make raki, and even serenading us on the Greek version of the mandolin. To add to all this, we got to meet the matriarch of the family, the yiayia (grandmother) who invited us into her house for cookies and a drink. We will long remember this beautiful family and the authentic Greek experience they gave us - a real highlight of our trip to Greece.

The *REAL* authentic Greece culture experience - “The best thing we’ve done all trip” was what my husband said to me after we left the farm. We spent pretty much all day being welcomed into this family’s house/community village and it was everything and more. It was just us and another couple doing the experience. We had a nice slow start with coffees and water and then started the cooking experience. All of the supplies we used was from their local herb garden. We once we made the dish and waited for it to cook and we were welcomed to visit their farm along with the grandmothers house. It was so authentic because it was legit. The conversations created by us the experiencees and the people hosting us was phenomenal. They gave us unlimited homemade wine as well, which my husband was a huge fan of, and he doesn’t usually drink wine haha. Sooo much more than just a cooking class. We spent all of 6 hours with this family and could’ve spent all day with them. Truly so thankful for their hospitality. A memory we won’t forget!

highlight of my Crete trip! - This experience was the highlight of my trip to Crete! It was more than just a cooking class—it was a journey into the Cretan culture. We visited their farm, learned about their daily life, and even got to milk a goat! The food we prepared was delicious, made with fresh ingredients from their farm. The hosts were warm, welcoming, and passionate about sharing their culture. I can’t recommend this experience enough!

Our group of 7 enjoyed this time from start to finish! Would go again next time we. Is it Crete. - Authentic experience with multi generational Greek family. Farm fresh vegetable, cheeses. Olive oil and protein 😉. Comfortably paced and your experience can be as enriching as you choose to say ‘yes’ to’.

Hands down our favorite day in Crete. - This was hands down one of our highlights of our stay in Crete. Paraskevas and Sofia made us feel welcome as soon as we got out of the car. The day was beautiful and so was the terrace overlooking the acres of olive trees. The fire was already going in the outdoor oven as we began preparing for the feast ahead of us. We learned so much as we talked and shared stories, while each of us helped in preparing the food. While the food was cooking, we were given a trip around the farm, introducing us to the farm animals, and the garden from which the food came from. The most interesting part was that we got to enjoy the company of their grandmother. She had homemade raki, and easter cookies for us to try. I could have listened to the stories for hours. But we needed to get back to the terrace, where the table was magically set while we were away. Needless to say, the food and wine was amazing. If you are even thinking of trying this cooking adventure, don’t pass it up. It will be one of your favorite stops as well.

Nice and warm day in Stilos - Paraskevas and Sofia welcame us warmly, we could see the olive trees and prepared lunch on the terrace. This was also the first rainy day since ... May ! and we were happy for trees and cultures around us. We appreciated this day so much, and we could enjoy lemons, oranges and avocados many days later at home ! Blessed be our guest's family and the beautiful Crete surroundings of Stilos.

Cretian organic farm cooking lesson - We had such an amazing evening at the Veggera Farm! Paraskevas and Sophia and the whole family welcomed us and made us feel at home, we explored the farm, met the family, picked fresh organic products including fresh walnuts (which I love!), we tried and tasted a whole range of organic food and drinks too all from the farm, we then cooked with all ingredients that came from the farm, we learned how to make traditional Cretian dishes and then had dinner with the family. Paraskevas took his time with us to explain all of the products and the Cretian way of life. It was a very special experience that I will treasure. Thank-you again to Paraskevas, Sophia and the whole family for hosting our visit, it was great!
