While enjoying your drink and some appetizers, you will make the famous bread “pão de queijo.” Learn about the ingredients, their origins, and sample simply cooked vegetables that are integral to our cuisine and its roots. Discover the special cheese “queijo coalho” and create a delicious pineapple pepper jelly to accompany it. Since the dessert needs time to cool, you will prepare it first; “brigadeiro” is a traditional, easy-to-make sweet, popular in Brazilian cafes. For the main dish, marinate fish, prawns, or seafood for the “moqueca.” Side dishes include Brazilian-style rice, “pirão,” and “farofa.” Conclude the experience with coffee from the Bahia region, followed by liqueur. Yummy food, amazing class - We had an amazing cooking class with Karla. First we visited the market and she talked about the different foods available which was really interesting. After the market, we had the cooking class. She was very knowledgeable about the ingredients and guided us along the way during the class. She was very warm and friendly! The food was delicious and more than enough. Definitely worth it!

Amazing cooking class! - Karla was amazing. She took us to the market and brought us to her home to make the food. She was so welcoming and made us feel at home. Love how she got everyone that was part of the experience to participate. And the food was 10 out of 10!! We got to try so many different kinds of food and everything was amazing and so flavourful. Definitely going to be making some of the recipes at home. It was also my birthday and she even bought a cake for me which was well appreciated. Would definitely recommend the cooking class to anyone that is coming to Salvador. Well worth it!!

Five star experience and food! - Best meal in Salvador so far and it was all under Karla’s wonderful instructions. Day started with a nice morning in the market with fellow cooks in training. We then headed to Karla’s house where we made an assortment of caphirina’s, appetizers, main dishes and dessert. All in all a great time, especially on a rainy day.

Fun, insightful and homely cooking class - The market tour and cooking class with Karla was a lovely experience. Karla is very welcoming, a great teacher and above all amazing company. She showed us around the market sharing her knowledge of local ingredients and produce. She made us feel at home, and we spoke at length while cooking delicious Brazilian dishes made with fresh and local ingredients. I’d like to add that I’m still learning to speak Portuguese and Karla was very patient while explaining and conversing with me, although she speaks English very well, she entertained my efforts to speak in Portuguese.

Unforgettable experience in Salvador - A very good day with Karla. We went to the market where we could talk to the sellers, try fruit and where Karla explained to us about the different fish, meats, fruits and chestnut. We learned to cook cheese bread, crisp shrimp, shrimp bobo, moqueca and brigadeiro. All with an excellent and smiling teacher. I loved the experience and I think it’s something that anyone who comes to Salvador must try.
