Little Africa Does Exist - We spent an amazing week in Rio celebrating my hubby’s bday. There were so many awesome things we did and saw while there but the most memorable experiences were realized with the help of the best tour guide ever, Thalles, or T as he’s known by us. With his help we got to see the good, the bad, and the “ugly” that the city has to offer which mixed together defines the real Rio De Janeiro! What started out as a scheduled tour to Pedra led to two days of eating, learning, partying, and exploring the city through the eyes of a native! It is because of him that we not only know, but got to see Little Africa does exist, in Rio! What an unforgettable experience! T is someone who started out as a tour guide and in the end became a friend. If ever in Rio be sure to check him and his tours out, I promise you won’t be sorry. #WeSurvivedPedra #LittleAfricaDoesExist

Pedra hiking tour - I absolutely loved my hike at pedra park, I'm out of shape and have a bad knee, so I had to stop and rest 4 times, even thought about quitting two of those times but fortunately for me I had the best tour Guide his name is Thalles , he was very patient and encouraged me to keep going, I really appreciate Thalles because my view was well worth it

Best hike/excursion - I travel and tour more than any other person, and Thalles, the tour guide, provided the absolute most comfortable and enjoyable experience! I was running very late and he politely and graciously waited for me( Get there on time though!) When I arrived, he described the itinerary for the day and always stopped to make sure I stayed hydrated and fed all along the way.
Before the hike, Thalles placed some of my personal belongings in his bag to free up my hands. That was so sweet.
During the hike, he stopped to ensure that I was going at my own pace and was not overwhelmed. He always held my hand when going down or up a treacherous trail and that made me feel safe and at a ease.
I could go on and on but he is honestly the most friendliest and kindest tour guide ever. Many are authoritative, rude, condescending and strict. I felt like I was going on a hike and educational tour with someone I already know.
The tour guide also speaks very good English...the best I’ve witnessed in Brazil. He even understands American slangs lol!
Lastly, the hike is fun, challenging, and reasonable in price. Don’t forget to bring water ( as described in the listing ) and take cool pictures! But if you’re frail, handicapped or injured, this ain’t for you. It’s pretty strenuous so it provides a good workout. Now, go ahead and make a booking!!

Incredible Hike! - I took the transport option which was excellent, comfortable, and exceptionally punctual. My tour guide Renan was kind, patient, and gregarious, and the hike itself was wonderful! Stunning views and beautiful pathways through a gorgeous urban jungle. Renan was kind enough to wait in the line with me for a picture, and was willing to tailor the hike to my needs, whether that included a side-route to one of the beaches below or a stop for an experience of coco-water. The view at the top is absolutely stunning and unique. Excellent experience!!

Into the Jungle - The most memorable part of this tour was the hike itself to the Pedra do Telegrafo. I have done hikes in the past but nothing could compare to this uphill hike. Felipe was a great guide and helped me to reach the top. It was a hard day but the view was well worth it. I would recommend this tour to my friends that are avid hikers.

Not a recommended tour - This tour and related description is very very misleading and it is a scam. You get a guide and need to pay for transportation. Our guide was late and suggested we take an Uber on our expense. We was late to the Telegraforock so it was very long queues (hours) and people cutting the line. The guide was good but company arranging is scaming participants. I recommend you take an Uber yourself (to Guaratiba) and be there by 7am so you get early to the rock (the 45-60 minutes hiking to it) and can take your photo.

Pedro de telegrafo - This tour expensive and is not worth it.Take uber and diy. Trails are paved and well-marked. There’s no use for a guide. Save your money! Booked it through Viator(horrible customer service btw). My local tour operator agreed to refund my money for 2 of 3 bookings, but was denied on Viator’s end. Don’t book this trip and avoid Viator.

Waste of money. Just do the hike on your own! - The tour meeting was very unorganized. At first on Whatsapp, the tour company told me they would pick me up at my hotel, and then they said they wouldn't The night before, they let me know to meet one of the two guides at Jardim Oceanico metro station at 8am. I met the guide before then, but the other guide with 3 other people taking the tour didn't meet up with us at that rendezvous point until much later. There was no transportation ready for us to go the Guaratiba, the town where the hike begins, and I was required to purchase an Uber for myself, one other tourist, and one of the guides. The other 3 went in a different Uber. The Uber ride was an hour long, and it would have been cheaper and quicker for me to go to the trail head directly from my hotel! Instead, they made me wake up early and meet them at a rendezvous point in the wrong directions, just so I could pay for an Uber for half of the group.
By the time we started the hike, it was past 10am. No information was provided during the hike. One of the guides took my photo at the top, and that was nice of her. But other than that, I received nothing for the price of the tour. In fact, in addition to the price of the tour, I had to pay more for the Uber to the beginning of the trail, and I had to pay for an Uber to get to the rendezvous point.
Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't book this tour, and just go there on your own. If you are staying at a hotel in Barra da Tijuca, like I was, then just take an Uber straight to the trail head, by entering "Pedra do Telegrafo" into the Uber app. The trail is well marked, and you will see other hikers. If you are staying in Rio, then you can take the Metro to the final L1/L4 station of Jardim Oceanico, and then take an Uber from that point to "Pedra do Telegrafo." If you are traveling solo, don't worry about not having someone to take your photo. Their is a professional photographer at the top of the mountain who will do it for a small fee, or you can ask one of the others in line.
