- Bertha’s Beach - Bertha’s Beach is renowned as one of the premier wildlife locations in the Falklands. It is recognized as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention. Bertha’s Beach is designated as an Important Bird Area (IBA), a global benchmark established by BirdLife International. It hosts 500 breeding pairs of Gentoo penguins, along with a diverse array of other water birds. With a bit of luck, you might spot Peal’s and Commerson’s dolphins playing in the water. Overall, it is a unique spot in the Falklands, and we are delighted to offer you this tour.
- Yorke Bay - During this segment of the tour, we will observe Gentoo penguins enjoying themselves on the beach at Yorke Bay. The colony is large, and there is always plenty happening in the penguin community! We will watch them play, interact, and swim in the sea. If fortunate, we might even see some visiting king penguins. The path through the dunes offers stunning views, and you might feel as if you are on the moon! You will need to walk about 5 minutes through the sand dunes to reach the penguins at Yorke Bay, so comfortable walking shoes are highly recommended! Our younger guests often enjoy sliding down the sand dunes - please ensure they wear suitable clothing for that!
- Gypsy Cove - Gypsy Cove is an enchanting cove with a Caribbean ambiance. On sunny days, the sea’s color is breathtaking. It is part of a National Nature Preserve and is home to a colony of Magellanic penguins, along with a wealth of other wildlife. The colony is a short walk up a gentle hill, with gravel paths and viewing terraces along the way.
- Lady Elizabeth Shipwreck - The Lady Elizabeth is a must-see in the Falklands. Exceptionally beautiful, she captures attention, majestic even in her shipwrecked state. If you visit during low tide, you might even walk over to her for a closer look at Lady Liz.
- Stanley - The southernmost capital city in the world, our charming Stanley is surprisingly vibrant. It features a cathedral with a renowned Whalebone Arch (crafted from whale jaws), a museum, the governor’s residence, and a Liberation Memorial. Several souvenir shops and cafes are ready to welcome you. We will showcase the city’s highlights from the car and are happy to guide and advise you if you wish to explore further on your own.

Just over an hour’s drive from Stanley, visitors will find Bertha’s Beach, known for its pristine white sands and crystal-clear waters. This area is recognized as a wetland of international significance under the Ramsar Convention. Bertha was a ship that met its end near the shore, leaving behind its valuable cargo—cedar wood planks that still dot the beach (notably, there are very few trees in the Falklands). Guests will have the opportunity to visit a colony of Gentoo penguins, which are noisy yet captivating creatures. Lunch can be enjoyed on the beach or in the car, though it may be a bit windy.
Following this, the journey continues to Yorke Bay and Gypsy Cove to observe more penguins, either on the dunes or in burrows, if fortunate. The Lady Liz is a must-see landmark in the Falklands, offering a chance to discover its significance. Finally, the tour will highlight the attractions of Stanley, the capital city of the Falklands.
