- Dariya Daulat Palace - Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace - The journey takes us to the historic town of Sri Rangapatnam, once the capital of Tipu Sultan, known as the Tiger of Mysore, in the 18th century. The tour will explore his life, from the legendary day he fought and killed a tiger with a dagger, to his courageous battles against the British, his administrative and economic reforms, and his innovative use of rockets in warfare. Tipu Sultan is recognized as a pioneer in the use of rockets for warfare, a technology later adapted by the British during World War I.
We will visit Dariya Daulat Bagh, Tipu Sultan’s Summer Palace, constructed in the Indo-Saracenic style. The palace features stunning murals depicting Tipu’s battles with the British. The highlight is the renowned painting “Storming of Srirangapatna” by Sir Robert Ker Porter, illustrating the final fall of Srirangapatna on May 4, 1799, when the British defeated Tipu’s forces.

Built in 1268 by Somanatha, a general of King Narasimha III, the temple features three shrines and three intricately carved peaks with a common Mandapa. Visitors will appreciate the 16 different ceilings, each depicting a stage of a blooming banana flower, and the central wall adorned with images of deities wearing jewelry, bangles, crowns, and anklets.
