Dominated by the ancient Minneriya Wewa, the park has plenty of scrub, forest and wetlands in its 88.9 sq km to also provide shelter for toque macaques, sambar deer, buffalo, crocodiles and leopards (the latter are very rarely seen, however).
There are rarer animals for groups to spot in the park, such as the Sri Lankan leopard and Sri Lankan sloth bear, however both are elusive and more difficult to see. Conditions in the park provide a well-suited habitat for up to 160 bird species, including water birds such as pelicans, storks and herons.

Lots of experiences in Sri Lanka - He's a very good guide. I signed up for the afternoon safari tour. He knows what time to start,where the elephant herd is. I didn't expect to see so many elephants up close!
When we came back, there was a Jeep traffic jam at the entrance. I was able to look at the elephants leisurely in the few jeep around me.
I also asked for a morning guide on the same day for an extra 25 dollars. He picked me up at the hotel at 4:30in the morning to climb the Sigiriya,Pidurangala ,Dambulla
temple,Economic dedicated center and local market. He took all of my requests and added more. He really made my day. I think it's more reasonable than other tours. I recommend it.

An Sri Lankan experience I’ll never forget - This was truly an unforgettable experience. It started with thinking I was on a shared tour and ended up being just myself. Sunju was very generous and purchased water, soft drink and even stopped for some roadside Guava. He was an incredibly knowledgeable guide who took the time to point out lots of different animals in the park and spend time searching for the elephants and giving us lots of time to watch and enjoy them. He knew which park would have less jeeps and therefore the experience felt even more authentic and enjoyable.
I searched for lots of tours before coming across this one and I’m so glad I booked it. Not only is it incredible value for money but you don’t feel rushed and there is a huge level of respect for the animals, not getting to close and being patient- whereas some other tours you saw got too close and scared the elephants away.
I will absolutely be recommending this tour to anyone else I know who visits Sigiriya. Thank you so much for a once in a lifetime experience ☺️

Excellent safari trip - Excellent communication before the safari. Pick us up on time from the hotel. Very friendly and informative. The safari was brilliant and we were taken to really good spots around the park with no rush with how long we wanted to stay watching the elephants. Would recommend!!

An amazing Safari - We had an amazing safari with Sudath as our driver. Sudath took us to Kaudulla National Park and we were very lucky with the amount of Elephants and other animals we saw in the park.
Sudath stoped and on the way for cold bottles of water for us all before we entered the park.
We were very lucky to have Suranga who works in the park jump in our Jeep as he showed us lots of different birds and wildlife, he explained a lot about the different animals and what work they do in the park. Both Sudath and Suranga were very respectful of the elephants and even directed other drivers to give them space.
We saw so many elephants that we lost count after 100. It was an amazing day that we won’t forget. We will deff book again next time we are in Sri Lanka.

Excellent service -
We had an unforgettable safari experience in Kaudulla National Park thanks to Sudath, our wonderful driver. He recommended this park so we could see lots of elephants, and he was absolutely right! Great experience - Had a great experience with this safari. Got to see lots of elephants, birds, monkeys and other wildlife. Sudath picked me up from my hotel and was a great guide. Great value for money and I highly recommend booking with this company.

Amazing Experience - Highly recommended experience! Thanks to our guide Sanju, we were able to see all kinds of animals right from the beginning. He picked us up and dropped us off at the same meeting point, and throughout the drive he was extremely attentive and skilled at positioning the vehicle perfectly for spotting wildlife. Friendly, knowledgeable, and respectful with wildlife — I would definitely do it again!

Great experience! - We had an incredible jeep safari in Kaudulla with Sanju as our guide.
His passion for wildlife conservation and genuine care for the animals, especially elephants, was evident throughout.
Sanju stopped at every opportunity to help us spot wildlife, ensuring we saw as much as possible while always prioritizing animal welfare.

Great experience - What a place! So many animals in one park — elephants, colorful birds, even a crocodrile. It feels wild but safe, and you’re never far from a great view. Our guide SANJU was amazing: super friendly, full of fun facts, and clearly loves the animals. You can tell they really care about making the visit special.
