The best option for Yala Safari by far! - We chose Janaka tours based on the great reviews, and it was immediately clear that these were fully justified. We were collected by Su, who chatted us through the options for the safari - we could either join with a group of other jeeps (there are literally hundreds lined up to get in at 6am when the reserve opens), or go off on our own - the latter being much more peaceful and more wild feeling but slightly less likely to see the "big three". He also discussed whether we wanted to focus on particular animals or whether we just wanted to see how it went across the trip. We had picked a full day (if you can, do this - it makes a huge difference!!!) so decided we would pick the option not to join a big group of jeeps, but we're there really to see the elephants and leopards so asked to prioritise those. We couldn't have made a better decision! Su was the perfect guide. Whilst the other jeeps chased around like crazy fighting in groups for a crowded view, we went our own way. Su had the perfect attitude - he never chased the animals, we waited for signs (in this case warning calls from the deer) and then we parked up in the perfect spot. Engine off, it was completely silent - no other people around - and out in front of us just walks a leopard, sits down on a rock and starts washing itself. Because we had the full day we were able to spend 45 minutes just watching this leopard walk around, roll around on the floor and just behave normally. It was perfect. Eventually another driver spotted it too and the hoards of jeeps arrived like an army, but we'd had the perfect experience. The same was true of the elephants later in the day - we got perfect views of elephants with no-one else around. Su was also very knowledgeable, talked about the animals and set a great example that other drivers we saw could learn a lot from. The food was nice and we finished having seen so so many animals and everything we wanted to. I cant rate Su and Janaka any more highly - if you want a real wildness safari feel, great views of the wildlife in real peace, led by a driver who is very much animals-first - this is the tour to get.

Great! - Very good DE guide who is present at exactly the right times. Besides the fact that we are both EN fortunate to see a bear and a leopard up close, DE guide was also really active as the only one looking for this!

Do it! If you put respect for DE nature first EN don't want to go along with DE masses. - What an experience. DE safari would not have been the same without our guide Su, very nice to go out with someone who is so passionate in his profession. He checked with DE group how we would prefer to do DE safari making it a very personal day. Saw EN beautiful birds, elephants,.. and did everything but follow the masses. I recommend such a day to everyone, you are tired but satisfied. Are worth more THAN money if you like an EN personal approach, where respect for animals and nature is paramount.

- We had a really great Safari with Su. We were in front of the line of the jeeps when entering the park. Our group decided on having a chill safari: not chasing the animals, but having respect for their home and space. We saw a lot whilst respecting the nature: elephants, beautiful birds, crocodiles etc. We kept away from the big crowds, which was lovely! Thank you Su!

- If you’re looking for the best option for a safari EN Yala, Janaka ES a safe bet. My partner and I went on a shared EN jeep safari with 4 other people (very friendly) and our driver was Su. ES here comes the difference with other companies. DE you may think they're all the same, they're definitely NO. Su picked us up at 4.45am on time and we arrived EN 9th position at the entrance to the park. Su has the respect DE everyone there, he'ES the boss, POR his experience. They kept the hole EN line and we went for coffee. Then unlike DE others, he explained in DE detail the rules and the day plan. EN regards to the safari, seeing animals is NO longer up to the guide, but His attempt from respect to see the big 3 (leopard, elephants and bears). We finally saw them all. Janaka offers DE breakfast, lunch and even snacks when ending up watching the sunset. When we went to lunch, Su is respected for the place, the most beautiful DE all. When Su meets one jeep DE front, ES the other jeep backs up. All ES details are where you can make a difference and Su gets them all. After finishing, (we arrived DE first and left last) Su explained his training, his knowledge and love POR animals and the current situation EN the park, where there are more and more drivers who are NO guides, who respect NO, who saturate the park, who chase animals at all costs. It was a magical moment. You can tell that Su loves his work and I really hope that his bosses value his work and for this, they pay him what he deserves. It would be fair for him to earn twice or three times as much as other drivers. We tipped him. Congratulations Su and Janaka, go on like this and respect the animals and your home.

- We went on the full day safari me and my 2 friends. Our driver inside the park was srimal, a very nice guy and super prepared. He was always trying to avoid other jeeps, so DA saw as many animals as possible, and he was also prepared on any questions we asked him. At the end of the day we were also lucky enough to see the leopard, again thanks to the sight of srimal and his knowledge of the best places within the park. I highly recommend booking this experience with them

Amazing day - We did the safari 2 days ago and it was amazing. Our driver, Sri Mal, is very experienced. It manages to locate all the small animals (example: a small chameleon on a tree branch, etc.). What we liked the most is the fact that it purposely avoids the main roads. Thus, we had the impression of being alone in the park in the morning. In the afternoon we still met a little more people but still reasonable. We observed so many different animals: elephants, crocodiles, peacocks, toucans, squirrels, mongooses, deer, buffaloes and so on. Not to mention the incredible chance to have observed a bear and then a leopard in the process. In addition, the driver knows which elephants are at risk of being aggressive (breeding period) because he recognizes them and therefore acts differently depending on the elephants involved. In addition, the full-day safari option includes unlimited water, breakfast and lunch. The meals are delicious and very hearty; we did not manage to finish everything eating! In short, we totally recommend Janaka Safari.
