Highlights
  • Palazzo di Diocleziano - Discover Diocletian’s Palace, an ancient structure built by the Roman emperor Diocletian at the dawn of the fourth century AD, which now constitutes about half of the old town and city center.

  • Historic City of Trogir - Begin the day with a short coastal ride to Trogir, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Established by Greek settlers in the 3rd century BC, Trogir boasts 2300 years of continuous urban history. Its stunning Romanesque churches are enhanced by remarkable Renaissance and Baroque buildings from the Venetian era.

  • Cathedral of Saint Domnius - The Cathedral of St. Domnius is a church complex, originally an Imperial Roman mausoleum, featuring a bell tower; the church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary, while the bell tower is dedicated to Saint Domnius. Together, they form the Cathedral of St. Domnius.

  • Fortress Kamerlengo - Constructed in the mid-15th century by Marin Radoj as part of an expansion of the Veriga Tower, which was built on the site in the late 14th century. It serves as a venue for performances during the summer. The term kamerlengo (Italian: camerlengo) refers to the title of an administrative official (a chamberlain).

  • Prokurative - Built in the 19th century under the direction of General Marmont and initiated by Split’s renowned mayor Antonio Bajamonti. The design of Prokurative is heavily influenced by Italian architecture of the time and closely resembles St. Mark’s Square in Venice. In fact, the architect of Prokurative was from Venice and wanted to create a structure that reminded him of his hometown.

  • The St. Lawrence Cathedral and Bell Tower - The Cathedral of St. Lawrence is a Roman Catholic triple-naved basilica built in Romanesque-Gothic style in Trogir, Croatia. Its construction spanned several centuries, showcasing all the architectural styles that emerged in Dalmatia. It now stands as the most prominent monument in Trogir.

Incredible guide with this group! - Tina was absolutely incredible. Not only was she knowledgeable, she was very personable. We loved how Tina shared a bit of who she was as a person and local, not just someone who gave facts about Trogir and Split. I am so thankful we were paired with her for this journey!

Guide was Fantastic! - Our guide Sandra was terrific! I booked this tour as an excursion on one of our cruise stops and it was better than booking with my cruise line because it was a very small group and they picked you up from the port. Trogir was amazing and we learned so much about the history of Split. This is definitely a tour for people who are mobile and can walk short distances, but there are not a lot of stairs to navigate. I highly recommend this tour to get to know the city!

Fantastic tour beautiful country - Tour guide, Tina was fantastic and very knowledgeable. The tour was only six people so it was very pleasant. While we started the tour in a downpour, our driver said a few prayers while driving and by the time we made it to Trogir the sun came out. Couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Enjoyable day in Split and Trogir - We had a very enjoyable trip with Croatian Trails visiting Trogir and Split. Originally I had planned to take a bus out to Trogir and just wander through the palace. We are so glad we booked this tour instead. Our tour guide was Tina, who was so friendly and entertaining. We enjoy traveling and seeing sites, but we really love to learn about the people of a region. Tina explained so many details about this area, the history, customs and lifestyle, which we would have missed if we had been on our own. She allowed us to ask as many questions as we liked. Trogir is a beautiful historic town on the Dalmatia coast. There are many different cobbled streets, stores and buildings to explore. The Diocletian's Palace tour was very interesting and Tina helped us to understand the history of the palace and how it has evolved and incorporated into the city of Split. On Tina's recommendation, we stopped by Misto Street Food & Bar and had wonderful time snacking and talking to the owner, receiving even more insight into the people of Croatia.

The tour that never arrived - This is the tour that never showed up for us. So we ended up having to set up something at the pier which thankfully worked out really well. We got a call an hour later from this tour guide asking if we were coming and I said well, you didn’t come so we made other plans. I was told that the ship had let them know we were going to get in an hour late, so they notified everybody on the tour that they would arrive an hour later. We never got that notification and I know another couple who did the same thing also never got that notification so it was just very frustrating. The great thing was the customer service was great and we received a full refund and we very appreciative of that , So try but just be careful .
