A very interesting day in Johannesburg - Very interesting drive through the centre of Johannesburg, stop at the old fort/ prison and court at Constitution Hill then on to Soweto and finally, the Apartheid Museum. Our driver Nathi was very safe, knowledgable and had very good English.

THE BEST WAY TO SEE JOHANNESBURG! PHILLIPIANS 4 FOUR! - This tour with Phillipians 4 Four was rich in culture, history, education & experience. Our tour guide, Nathi, was punctual, informative, patient & extremely knowledgeable. His greeting, “Welcome Home,” set the tone for the day. We had the opportunity to actually touch history through Nathi’s eyes, memories & experiences. He provided an in depth knowledge of each place we visited. The tour was emotional because of the pain of the history, but also beautiful because of the strength, perseverance & courage of the people & how they survived & overcome the struggles of apartheid. Constitutional Hill, The Apartheid Museum, Hector Pieterson Museum & Memorial, Nelson Mandela House, Desmond TuTu House, Vilakazi Street & Soweto all had their own stories & histories, but they were all tied in together. This comprehensive tour with Philippians Four 4 is the best way to see Johannesburg & all it has to offer. We used this company before & would definitely recommend them & use them again. Thank you Solly & Nathi.

Trip to remember - Our recent trip to Soweto, Joburg down town, arpatheid museum was truly unforgettable. Our tour guide, Nathi, was not only incredibly friendly but also deeply knowledgeable about the rich history of Soweto, Johannesburg, and the life of Nelson Mandela. His stories brought the area’s history to life, helping us connect with the struggles and triumphs of its people in a meaningful way. One of the highlights of the tour was learning about the painful struggles that black people experienced while in prison. Seeings the exhibits made us sad. But that courage to die for others’ freedom was on another level. Overall, this experience was insightful, enjoyable, and eye-opening. I highly recommend this tour to anyone wanting to understand the heart and soul of Soweto and apartheid

A good overview of Johannesburg - The tour was very interesting. I had no idea how bad apartheid was on non white residents of S. Africa. I think this is an important thing to learn, no matter what country a person comes from. The tour of the jail at Constitutional Hill was very informative and heartbreaking. I ended up being the only person in the tour. I enjoyed learning from Nathi.

Worthwhile, meaningful. Inspiring. - The tour was informative and personal. Learnt so much about Johannesburg, Soweto, the history of South Africa. The stops were well curated and you really get an in depth experience. They were very flexible with pick ups and drop offs and made extra effort to get me back on time by splitting the group on the return journey and deploying another vehicle. Bobo and Brian were excellent hosts - gave great explanations that brought history and the place alive.

A Good Tour but Too Hot for our liking - Our Tour Guide Nathi did a great job on this tour, but there are two areas that we feel need to be mentioned as needing improvement, especially when taking this tour on a hot day ( it was 32 Deg C and humidity was high the day of our tour ) . First of all, the vehicle needs to have a fully operating air conditioning system. Nathi claimed that it was working AOK, but there must be a lack of Freon in the system or some other issue, as the A/C simply could not keep us cool enough. As a result we decided to shorten the duration of our tour as we were too hot to continue. Also, the water that Nathi provided was lukewarm, and he did not even have it in a cooler on ice. As a result, the bottles continued to heat up all day and were barely drinkable. We asked him to stop for water, and we finally found some bottles after lunch in Soweto, but they warmed up quickly as well. Otherwise, the tour was a great experience.

Extremely disappointed - Booked this tour specially to see the Apartheid Museum and Soweto only to discover (from a fellow tourist) after the cancellation deadline had passed that the Museum was not open on Monday and Tuesday. I contacted the operator who confirmed it was closed and that it would be replaced with a visit to Regina Mundi in Soweto. This did not happen. We were also told late IN the tour that we couldn’t see the Hector Pieterson Museum either as it was closed Monday and Tuesday as well. The tour advertised hotel pickup but our confirmation indicated that we were to meet the group somewhere else. Again after contacting the operator we were told they would pick us up but not given a time until we asked. All in all there was a lot of false advertising and we would not recommend booking with this tour company. We now know why other operators said their tours were full….. they knew everything was closed. We also feel that we were over charged as two of the museum entries didn’t happen! Despite the above, our guide was friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating!
