Excellent Tour - The bicycle tour of Soweto was fantastic! We were picked up at Peech Hotel and driven to Book Ihboni bike store where we were greeted by our knowledgeable tour guides. Our tour guides, Wandi, Region and the young man with the beard (sorry, I forgot his name) did an excellent job explaining some of the local facts in Orlando East, Orlando West and Hector Peiterson Museum. I liked that our bike route took us in and around the neighborhoods where we stopped at historical sights, such as the Mandela house. I would highly recommend this tour!

A must-do tour - Great experience. You get to see the top attractions in Soweto by bike including Nelson Mandela house, Desmond Tutu house, and the Soweto stacks. You also get off the bikes at one of the stops for a guided walk through the narrow alleyways of the township. You get to go inside a local resident’s house and meet the family.

Impressive bike tour in Soweto provided by guide Mike.👍👍 - We were picked up neatly in time at our B&B Agterplaas in Melville by our tour guide Mike for a 3-hour bike tour in Soweto.
Cycling on the back of the car and on the way to Soweto. Very nice and enthusiastic young man who knew a lot about Soweto. The origin of Soweto, the history and the uprisings in Soweto.
About Mandela and Bishop Tutu. We also got a tour in a neighborhood where people live in the least comfortable houses. This tour was done by a resident from the neighborhood itself. Respect for the people that they can live this way. They have to. Mike thanks for the impressive tour. We learned a lot there. 👍👍👍

Bikes need to be updated and be prepared for pressure to purchase local wares - M.K. was a great guide, very knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Soweto. My husband and I learned a lot from him. M.K. was on time to pick us up at our hotel. The bikes, however, were not in good working condition and were a struggle to ride, particularly when we were riding against traffic in small lanes. We were guided to the former homes of Nelson and Winnie Mandela and Desmond Tutu and the site of the 1976 student uprising. We also made several stops with heavy pressure to purchase local wares, drink beer (fee not included) and toured Nazamo Park, a shantytown community in the Orlando East area of Soweto.

Rip off - Firstly our driver was an hour late. So we had to be picked up by an Uber driver. Then they used a volunteer - who was very good - but he said he doesn't get paid and he is very thirsty. We were suppose to get water and a helmut. But didn't get any one of the 2. Apparently in Soweto you don't wear helmets??? I think they borrowed the bikes from kids on the street. The one bikes peddles didn't even match. We paid over R4000 for 3 people!!!!! Such a rip off!!!!
