- Moab - We will start off hiking and scrambling through the intriguing Valley of the Goblins that was featured in the film Galaxy Quest. Along the way, you will learn about the area’s unique geological, biological, historical, and cultural wonders. Your guide will also provide basic safety information, along with an introduction to the basics canyoneering before entering a beautiful slot canyon that disappears into a dark and mysterious chasm. Here, we’ll put on our canyoneering gear and rappel into the Goblin’s Lair which is also known as the Chamber of the Basilisk due to its resemblance to the interior of a medieval Gothic church. The landscapes are truly breathtaking and out of this world. While rappelling through the canyon, admire the sunbeams shining through to the canyon floor from the natural skylights above.
Once inside the Goblin’s Lair, we will enjoy a snack and explore the Lair’s hidden passages in search of the mysterious goblins. Once you’ve toured the Goblin’s Lair, we’ll catch a glimpse of the magnificent open landscape views towards Robbers Roost. This stunning vantage point is bound to impress you while you catch your breath before a quick hike back to the trailhead.

Rappel into the Goblins Lair - so fun! - This is a great family activity! You meet your guide at Goblin Valley State Park entry (included in the price). Tyler was our guide and great: very friendly with lots of fascinating info about the area. We explored the goblins as we went and learned all the safety info for rappelling. It was a fun trail to scramble up, over and through. I'm a little scared of heights and starting the rappel was scary for me but I knew I was safe and I knew how to do it from Tyler's intro and once I got going, it was a great experience. We rappelled down into the Goblin's lair and then the 20 somethings in the family climbed and crawled their way out while my husband and I went up and over through a natural skylight in the wall. Goblin Valley is different from other parks we visited in that you are allowed to go everywhere - there is no biotic soil so you can clamber and climb where you want. The outing with Tyler really enriched the experience though and I am now not afraid to rappel!

What an excellent... - What an excellent experience! Goblin Valley is incredible! Tyler was a fantastic tour guide; he shared so much knowledge and history on the area! Rappelling into the cave was an experience I’ll never forget! So fun!

Awesome for families - Amaaazing! This trip was one of the highlights of our trip. We took our kids (ages 15,13,10) and they all loved it. We have three boys who are constantly climbing on things wherever we go and they loved this trip. You are able to climb/boulder/explore as you hike through Goblin Park on your way to the main canyon where you repel down. None of us are experienced rock climbers but we all enjoyed this Trip. Tyler, our trip leader, was very experienced and we all felt very comfortable and safe during the day. I was a bit hesitant about this trip because it was pricey and I wasn't sure how it would go. It was definitely worth it and I recommend

Canyoneering Adventure October 2024 - My wife and I had a blast. Our guide Elsie was fantastic. She explained the History of the Goblin Liar. Was on point for training us on what to expect and was very professional. She was very calm and clear in her instructions and we always felt safe. We highly recommend this experience.

The best canyoneering experience! - We absolutely LOVED our guided tour with Get in the Wild! Our guide Tyler was the best, he taught us so much about the history of the area & the rock formations and we learned so much about canyoneering as beginners this was everything we hoped for and more! We did the Goblin’s Lair Tour and Tyler was a pro at giving us all the tips of how to repel & even did a demo + practice which we loved and found extremely helpful of how to repel before we did the real thing into the Goblin’s Lair! This was the coolest experience ever, we are definitely going to do more guided tours with Get in the Wild! This is an unforgettable experience, thank you Tyler & Get in the Wild! :)

FALSELY advertised! - NOT a Moab excursion - WARNING!!! – If you are looking for an excursion in Moab, UT, this is NOT IT. If you are not familiar with the area, you will not realize until it is too late that this excursion is in Goblin Valley State Park and Goblin Valley is 2 hours away from Moab! We booked this tour less than 24hrs prior to the excursion time, not realizing it was NOT in Moab. So, Viator denied any refund. We have used Viator numerous times in the past, but we will NEVER use them again. They marketed this excursion as a Moab destination, and it is NOT. Despite multiple attempts they would not respond in a reputable manner to our refund request.
