• 36FV+85 Fern Tree - The adventure begins at the South Hobart office, where participants will receive a tour briefing, along with a helmet and gloves. An introduction to the bike, including brakes and gears, will also be provided.

Following this, guests will board a minibus for a 30-minute journey to the summit of Mt Wellington. The initial ride involves a descent on a paved road from the summit, with a support vehicle accompanying the group. For those who prefer not to ride the road descent, there is an option to travel down in the vehicle.

A short break follows, allowing time for a restroom stop or a refreshment at Lost Freight Cafe.

Next, a 15-minute bus ride takes participants to the start of the ‘rainforest ride’. This off-road trail gently descends through temperate rainforest. The trail is smooth, wide, with a gentle gradient, making it easy to navigate. The surface is primarily compacted dirt, with a brief section of looser gravel.

Riders should feel comfortable on a bike and possess basic bike handling skills. As the route is entirely downhill, only a basic level of fitness is necessary.

In the event that the summit is closed due to adverse weather, a longer ride on the off-road rainforest trail will be offered instead. This ensures a thrilling ride and the opportunity to experience the mountain’s breathtaking nature.

Your adventure begins with a thrilling 6km descent from the peak of Mt Wellington. Subsequently, your tour guides will take you on a mesmerising 11km trail ride, plunging through beautiful temperate rainforest.

Beginning 1270 meters above the sea level, the peak experience and road descent offer panoramic views over Hobart and far, far away.

The trail ride through the rainforest gently winds downhill amidst the amazing temperate rainforest, showcasing magnificent views, towering eucalyptus forests, enormous ferns, a waterfall, a walk beneath historical aqueducts, and views of crystal clear chattering streams, and you may spot some inquisitive local fauna.

The expedition starts with a bus ride to the peak embedded with fun and knowledge. Our seasoned local tour leaders will accompany you throughout, delivering commentary on the area’s history and nature.

During the rides, we make a pit stop at the Lost Freight Cafe where you can get some refreshments. The ride culminates back at our office in Hobart.
