Grit and beauty - Johan guided my sister and me, both in our sixties, with grace and patience to the Table Mountain summit, pausing to tell us stories, teach us about local plants and animals, and explain aspects of local history and culture. This hike exceeded my expectations in every way. Despite the elevation gain of only 1000 m and the distance of only 6 km or so, the hike was steadily steep and I rushed. At the end, we were happy to sit at the summit, gaze at eagles soaring past, swearing guy, and sip a coffee together before descending by cable car. On that day, I became closer to the land, animals, and politics of this complicated country. Lauren was responsive, expert, and communicative. I give her company my highest recommendation. ❤️

Great experience with Mother City Hikers - Johann is an excellent guide, who not only led us safely, but also off the beaten track to Table Mountain. His knowledge of botanicals and wildlife was also phenomenal.
He was able to chat with the birds in a twittering manner.
We would book him again and again.

Highlight of Cape Town!! - My mom and I completed the Platteklip Gorge trail with the help of our guide Yvette! Yvette was amazing! She was so knowledgeable and patient with us as we made the climb up. Highly recommend using Mother City Hikers :)

5 Stars! Table Mountain Private Hike Tour - We had an amazing experience hiking Table Mountain, and it wouldn’t have been the same without our amazing guide, Yvette. She was knowledgeable, friendly, came very prepared, and went at our pace. The views were absolutely breathtaking, and the entire experience exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend this hike, especially with Yvette as your guide!

All around professional and excellent hike guides - We had an excellent experience with Mother City Hikers. I highly recommend them and would readily use them again as guides on our next trip to South Africa. Lauren and her team had excellent and clear communication from the start including detailed descriptions for how to choose which hike was best for us and timely communication as we approached the day of the hike. Our specific guide, Johan was highly skilled, knowledgeable and a pleasure to hike with. We had to change plans last minute due to weather and a recent forest fire and he easily pivoted, taking into account all the factors important for us and was very responsive to our preferences. The hike ended up being beautiful and on a less traveled trail which we never would have found without the guide.

Fun table mountain hike with a guide about flora / fauna - We had an amazing experience hiking with Laura from the Pipe track to the kitchen ravine and up to the cable way . Laura was wonderful , patient , knowledgable and fun . We learnt a lot about flora and fauna in table mountain and generally had a great time, also enjoying the views . I can only recommend her company .

Excellent!! - Despite my complete lack of balance, flexibility and fitness, our guide, Yvette, was very patient. She was knowledgeable, kind and fun. I have to admit that the whole ordeal was a bit more challenging that what I was prepared for, so her support made all the difference. I highly recommend their services.

A super experience overall. - We hiked Cecelia Forest Waterfall Loop with Lauren Medcalf today and it was a delightful couple of hours with a challenging hike. She is very knowledgeable on the area and Cape town and provided a wonderful experience. We will definitely plan to hike with her again upon our return.

Cool climb - My partner and I had a fabulous hike with the BEST tour guide Monique. We had an absolute blast. We weren't sure what to expect and the weather did not cooperate in that we were fairly socked in w clouds. We opted for some of the more difficult options to get up that mountain and just had a ball despite the weather. Monique was super knowledgeable and a heck of a lot of fun! Highly recommend.

So thankful for their knowledge ! - Lauren & Johan were fantastic advisors for our morning Table mountain adventure. Very good communication, and advice/coordination from Lauren. We were in such professional hands with Johan and we truly enjoyed all of the conversation, and education along the way. An absolutely stunning way to start your day with these lovely humans and one of the most beautiful trails I’ve ever experienced.
