Total Time - 4 hours underground tour 2,5 hours travelling and 1,5 hours Lunch. The Underground tour is only available on Mondays and Wednesday. Above ground tour available Monday to Friday at R150. This tour is only 1,5 hours in duration - Voortrekker Monument - The biggest Museum in the Southern Hemisphere and recently upgraded. Join us as we take you back to the first white settler’s who build one of the richest countries in the world. The museum has fantastic examples of the Ox-wagons, equipment, artifacts and general life style replica’s. If you have any interest in South African history this tour is a must . Your guide has extensive knowledge of the museum and the resides and went to school in Pretoria. You will not only experience the museum but be entertained in the history of South Africa by your guide
- Union Buildings - A Short visit of 1 hour to the offices of the government. Architect Sir Herbet Baker designed this amazing building that has become an iconic structure that South Africa is very proud of. There is also a huge statue of Nelson Mandela with photographic options.
- Pretoria - A drive through of the city to give you an idea of city life in the central business district, We also pass through Hatfield our University town.

Come and see where the Queen of England’s diamonds came from and where some of the largest diamonds in the world are found. There is an informative presentation before going on the surface tour that is 2 hours in duration. We have now also included Pretoria CBD and Hatfield, our university town. Your guide, a local in Pretoria, also introduces you to the locals and his favorite coffee shop.

Outstanding tour of diamond mine, Pretoria and Voortrekker Monument - The day trip was outstanding. The 2 hour surface tour of the Cullinan diamond mine was good , and the little village interesting with great coffee.
We saw the major sites of Pretoria with our guide’s stories about growing up there. The Voortrekker Monument and museum were very interesting with Shane’s commentary about the history and displays, and his inside knowledge. Great views from the top.
Shane is an excellent guide , very pleasant all day and gave us lots of interesting history, facts and stories about South Africa. The drive passed quickly as he answered our questions.
Good value, a highlight of my time in Johannesburg, highly recommended.,

Excellent tour from beginning to end - This was a truly outstanding tour. Cullinan (now Petra) Mines was very interesting and my guide was an excellent host - very friendly, personable and helpful. He deserves to be congratulated. The mine’s guide was also very knowledgeable. I have travelled around the world several times and found this tour amongst the very best.

A great underground tour of the famous Cullinan diamond mine in South Africa - We really enjoyed the surface and underground tour of the historic Cullinan diamond mine near Joburg, South Africa. The guide Leo was a former manager of underground mining and very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. The tour was easy physically and very informative. We really appreciate Petra allowing these tours to take place.

Loved seeing Cullinan - Thoroughly enjoyed getting underground at the mine.Shane was a great host, he confirmed pick up location and time in advance and then entertained us en route with lots of information about Johannesburg, Praetorian, and the history of mining in the area. Showed us around the mining town before we headed underground with Leigh who was clearly very knowledgeable about the mine operations. A very interesting day.

Diamonds are a girls best friend - This was an amazing experience. Traveling more than 763 meters into the earth was fantastic! Knowing that all of the Crown Jewels were found in this active mine was incredible. We watched these hard-working men and women tirelessly dig and supply the world with beauty. My guide was very educated and you were able to purchase diamonds for incredibly cheap prices!

Tour to Cullinan mine - We enjoyed visiting Cullinan mine with Shane. Everything was well organised and run. We had a nice lunch in nearby coffee shop suggested by Shane.
It was a short, but enjoyable trip.
We highly recommend this tour whilst staying in South Africa.

So disappointed - It’s only a transfert !
The mine is stopping, we saw nothing. Be careful, IT’S NOT A UNDERGROUND TOUR
When we reserved, we thought it was but no ! Don’t trust photos
