See the history of Humankind - The caves were closed due to flooding back in time. Museum was open and gives information about the humankind. Local guide will share information inside the museum. Appreciated the help of Solly for this tour. Highly recommend tour operator whenever you visit Johannesburg.

Great Tour. Very helpful CEO Solly. - I booked a tour to Maropeng through Trip Advisor with Phillipians in August 2024. Unfortunately I made some errors on the booking, however Solly from Phillipians came to my aid and managed to correct everything and the tour went ahead. The tour was excellent. Our driver guide was very good and ensured that we had an excellent tour. Also we only had one day when we could do the tour which happened to be a day when very many school children were scheduled to do the tour. But Solly arranged things so that it was not a problem. Full marks! We found the museum very interesting which was a surprise to my wife who is not into evolution. We thought the tour well worth the effort.

Couples - go there early. Worth doing! - Wilson was a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the knowledge he shared. We started at 9 which is highly recommended because bus loads of kids start arriving at 9:45. The site is well laid out and very informative. Wilson repeated facts for us that helped reinforced the relationships and time frame. The boat ride was a bit hokey, but I’m sure kids enjoyed it based on the screams we heard. The interactive section was also well done. I highly recommend the museum but couples should do it when kids haven’t overtaken it.

Elder woman traveling solo. - The driver was prompt, helpful, and kind. The museum was very interesting and well worth the time. I liked the combo of having an on-site guide at the start of the visit, and then time to study the exhibits on my own.

Amazing Tour - This was an amazing tour and well worth it even though the cave was closed. The museum provided a very detailed explanation of hominid evolution and dispersion, and our guide was extremely knowledgeable! You'll leave with a new perspective on your place in history!

Great Museum but No Cave - Viator should change the title and remove “Sterkfontein Cave Experience” since the cave has been closed for two years. It is only the museum, which is quite impressive and worth a visit.

Interesting but could use enhancement - Our guide Kenneth was very knowledgeable and interesting. Cave closure was disappointing but understood beforehand. Interactive exhibits were interesting. Boat ride through simulated cave was a head scratcher, need's narrative to be meaningful.
