  • Table Mountain - We will see Table mountain from several viewpoints during the day with lots of opportunities to photograph.
  • Cape Point Nature Reserve - Stand on the edge of the dramatic cliffs at Cape Point, the most south-westerly outcrop of Africa. Travel around the stunning coastal drives under dramatic granite cliffs and look out over waters that seem to extend forever.
    The entrance fee is R376 per adult.
  • Chapman’s Peak Drive - Rated as one of the top 10 most scenic drives in the world. We will follow its entire length and stop where we can to enjoy the views and take photographs.
  • Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Simons Town is home to a unique land-based colony of endangered African Penguins. It is one of a few in the world. We will get close enough to observe and photograph these curious and entertaining birds. Jim will give you detailed information about the birds and what is happening currently according to the season.

  • Muizenberg - We will hug the coastline following the coast road around the Cape Flats and as it winds fast the lazy suburbs with quaint names like Muizenberg, Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, St James and Glencairn until we enter the gates of the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve.
  • Noordhoek Beach - Noordhoek Beach is 9 km long and is the most unspoiled and best protected on the Atlantic Cape coast. It stretches between Chapman’s peak rising out of the sea, and Kommetjie lighthouse. The protected wetlands, along the beach, have kept it free of urban sprawl.
  • Jubilee Square & Jetty, Simon’s Town - Jubilee Square is right in the middle of Simons Town. We stop here and look out over the jetty, harbour, and False Bay. We will also meet Just Nuisance here.
  • Shark Spotters Lookout Point / Observation Deck - We stop and see how a shark spotter spends his day. Shark Spotters is a non-profit and public benefit organisation providing a vital public service. It has attracted international attention through the novel way it proactively reduces conflict between surfers and white sharks.
  • Bronze Leopard - As we leave Chapmans Peak Drive will stop at the water’s edge in Hout Bay to enjoy one of Cape Town’s most beloved sculptures, the bronze leopard of Hout Bay. This beautiful artwork should be on everyone’s Cape Town bucket list.
  • Hout Bay - Hout Bay, or the Republic of Hout Bay, as it’s often called locally is a beautiful but busy fishing harbour.
  • Simon’s Town - We will slowly drive through the pictoresc coastal part of the town and stop to explore where appropriate.
  • Noordhoek Farm Village - Lunch venue in a South African restaurant.

Our journey will trace the coastline via the coastal road around the Cape Flats, passing through sleepy suburbs with charming names like Fish Hoek, Kalk Bay, St James, until we reach the gates of the Cape of Good Hope.
You’ll get opportunities to closely watch and take photos of the interesting and amusing penguins. Jim will provide you with comprehensive information about these birds.
