Vesuvius National Park - Vesuvius is a classic example of a stratovolcano, featuring an outer cone, Monte Somma, with a largely eroded crateric belt, and a smaller cone known as Vesuvius, separated by the Valle del Gigante, part of the ancient caldera. During the eruption of 79 AD, the Great Cone was formed. Vesuvius is a polygenic and composite volcano, composed of lava with varying chemical compositions (such as trachyte, tephrites, leucitites) and formed by both lava flows and pyroclastic deposits.

The entire Mount Vesuvius National Park is both stunning and fruitful, featuring small farms and wineries with heirloom varietals that thrive in this unique region. Visiting the crater is essential, attracting tourists worldwide who climb the path each year to gaze into its depths. The first stop will be at a local vineyard on the slopes of Vesuvius to savor a glass of wine alongside a traditional Italian light lunch. Following this, the journey continues with a visit to the impressive Vesuvius for approximately 2 hours. Return to Sorrento in the afternoon.
