Here, we will explore the magnificent Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie, featuring the unique Chiaiese floor, a rarity in Campania. We will pause for photos at a stunning viewpoint to admire the beauty of the Vervece rock.
-
Marina della Lobra - Spiaggia e Borgo Marinaro - In the spring, when the beaches are quiet, we will visit the charming fishing village of Marina della Lobra. The name Lobra originates from “Delubrum,” meaning temple, referring to the ancient cathedral once located on the beach. Visitors can wander through the small, predominantly fisherman-inhabited area, enjoying the vibrant colors and scents of these quaint villages. During the era of Barbary raids, the village was protected by the Corva watchtower, named after the western tip of the Lobra inlet, known as Capo Corbo, which also houses the church of San Liberatore. In summer, we will admire the village of Santa Maria della Lobra from the picturesque Via del Nastro D’oro, taking in its full beauty.
-
Termini - From Marina della Lobra, we will journey to the enchanting S. Liberatore. After a 20-minute drive along the beautiful Nastro d’oro, we will arrive at the village of S. Maria Annunziata, a hidden gem outside the usual tourist paths in Massa Lubrense. From a distance, we will see the Castle, Torre dei Pegni, and the Palace where Gioacchino Murat sought refuge. Here, we can relax and enjoy a breathtaking view of Capri. Next, we will head to Termini, the historic site of the temple of Athena (known as Minerva to the Romans). Visitors can enjoy the view of Capri while savoring a lemon granita or a refreshing drink. Situated directly across from Capri, at the base of Mount San Costanzo (330 meters above sea level), the hamlet of Termini boasts an enviable landscape. Its name likely derives from its proximity to Punta Campanella (term = end), marking the end of the Sorrento Peninsula.
-
Nerano - From Termini, a 20-minute drive takes us to the bay of Nerano, where visitors can admire the three islets of “Li Galli,” swim in the beautiful waters, and enjoy the local specialty, spaghetti with courgettes, at one of its renowned restaurants.
-
Sant’Agata sui Due Golfi - A 15-minute drive brings us to S. Agata sui due Golfi, named for its views of both the Gulf of Naples and the Gulf of Salerno. The area was colonized by the Teleboi from Acarnania and nearby islands at the mouth of the Achelous, Greece’s largest river and the mythical father of the Sirens. They brought with them the myth of the Sirens, which they associated with the three islets of “Li Galli,” visible from S. Agata and located off the coast between Positano and Torca. Most sources suggest that the myth placed the Sirens’ home on the promontory where S. Agata stands.
-
Colli di Fontanelle - We will pause here to take in the breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno, with a view of Positano, the vertical town known for its colorful houses. Positano is an architectural gem, perched on the rock overlooking the sea. Clusters of colorful, sometimes cubic houses are built on steep steps leading down to the beach, connected by alleys and long stairways.
-
Positano - A 30-minute drive brings us to Positano, the vertical hamlet with white houses, where we will spend an hour shopping and enjoying the beach.
-
Amalfi - We will explore the Cathedral of Amalfi and enjoy a stroll through its charming old town and along the seafront.
