• Casa dell’Albergo - This Roman-era house, buried during the Vesuvius eruption in 79, was uncovered during the archaeological excavations of Herculaneum. Situated on the edge of a hill in a scenic location, the house spans 2,150 square meters, making it the largest house discovered in Herculaneum to date. It is also the only house in the city with a spa district, initially leading to the belief that it was a hotel.
• Sacellum of Augustali - Constructed near the forum while Emperor Augustus was still alive, this quadrangular building features stunning frescoes depicting Hercules entering Olympus with Jupiter, Juno, Minerva, and Hercules battling Achelous. The skeleton of the janitor was found in his room, lying on the bed.
• Casa dei Cervi - This luxurious house with a sea-view terrace belonged to Q. Granius Verus, a freed slave shortly before Herculaneum’s destruction. The garden features two statues of deer being attacked by dogs, giving the house its name.
• Casa del Salone Nero - Named for its party hall entirely painted in black with geometric patterns, this house contained wax tablets belonging to L. Venidius Ennychus, believed to be the owner. The tablets detail her eligibility for Augustale, the purchase of a slave, and the birth of a daughter.
• Casa dello Scheletro - Likely formed from the merging of three smaller buildings, this house gets its name from the human remains discovered in a second-floor room in 1831.
• Casa di Nettuno e Anfitrite - The glass paste mosaics, which were very costly at the time, are truly captivating. They feature floral and hunting scenes, with a central mosaic depicting Neptune and Amphitrite, the marine deity and his companion.
